We were a pretty large group so we didn't sit in the main area of the depot, but it was nice with good heating for a lean-to addition. Nice little fake fireplace that children can't burn themselves on. There is a lot of old train depot memorabilia in the main area with a nice bar and nice brick architecture.

Stopped here for lunch on a trip across the state based upon other reviews we had read. The setting is nice and they had a lot of craft beers on tap which I'm always happy to see. The service was good, but it was 2pm on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't very busy. The menu offered a variety of... More

If you like trains, as I do, there's usually one close by this place. The wife and I went here several months ago to check it out. Food is very good, service is excellent, but prices aren't cheap. Will I go back? Sometime, yes.

We stopped in for lunch after visiting the Corn Palace. Neat history to the building, you can read about it on the front of the menu. They have a good selection of entrees along with a variety of daily specials. I had the taco salad, it was fresh and a nice change from burgers and fries. We'd stop again and... More

This was our third year pheasant hunting in South Dakota (staying in Mitchell each trip). We have had dinner at The Depot on each trip. The Sirloin Tips, Coulette Steak and Chicken Fried Steak are excellent.

Depot is always good. Had pheasant and wild rice soup which was excellent. Ribs were also very good. Ate with a group of seven - service was very good. Don't miss the Depot if you are in Mitchell.

Don't let the words "pub" or "grille" scare you off if you are looking for a decent meal but want a break from the normal national chains. In SD, these terms often mean a limited menu, moderately high prices, and not a vegetable in sight other than potatoes. The Depot's menu isn't huge but it has a nice assortment of... More

My daughters love Wednesdays and it has become a staple for them. This is the one place in Mitchell with the most character. As the original train depot to bring settlers to Mitchell it had been restored to a fun sports bar atmosphere and excellent dining area. Try the steak tips I refer mine Cajun. The wings on Wednesdays are... More

We like to go here all of the time. Great menu from lighter side-hamburgers and hot sandwiches--steaks--seafood. Always great atmosphere and the servers are attentive and know their stuff.

This restaurant is in the old train station, right downtown. It is frequented by locals and has great food and excellent service. We had buffalo burgers and they were fantastic. It was a great place to talk to the local people and find out what is going on in the area. They were all very friendly and helpful.
