Waited 45 minutes on a Monday evening after summer tourist season was over. Talked to locals and learned that they don't even try to get close during the summer, it's so busy. Went in to sign up for a table and saw what I thought were the specials. Great prices, so didn't mind the wait. However, I learned from the... More

When I heard that the steaks cost $9.95 (small) or $11.95 (large) I was, honestly, a little worried. They were really good! For that, you get a 6 oz or a 9 oz filet mignon, a wedge of iceberg with homemade dressing, a baked potato and toast. It absolutely hit the spot. The service was friendly and prompt, and the whole... I think the waitress thought she was doing us a favor. I take that back, I don’t think she gave it that much thought. The quality of the food was comparable with the price paid.

I'd thought I'd read that this restaurant serves German cuisine. So upon our first night in the area (October 13, 2014), my husband & I went here for dinner. The hostess seated us in a room furthest from the entrance, and we were so close to the people at the table perpendicular to us that we might as well have... More

It was suggested by the desk person at our hotel to try this restaurant if we were in Hill City. We went in for lunch and had a great meal. The German potato salad was really good. My wife had the monte christo which she enjoyed. Went back for dinner where they only have two items on the menu. we... More

b. This restaurant is very unusual. It maintains very low prices for high quality meals but since it does not take reservations, there is no discipline whatsoever in maintaining a queue to get a table. We arrived close to two hours before dinner was open and there were already 30 people already there. Approximately 1 hour before the restaurant open,... More

Perhaps we hit a bad night, but we were really disappointed by the meal and even more by the service. Alpine Inn had been recommended by a foodie friend, so I was expecting a decent meal with good service. When we arrived (just after 5, when they start dinner service) we approached the hostess station. The hostess mumbled something as... More

My husband and I were given a recommendation for the Alpine Inn by three different people - all saying great food, best in the area (we were staying in Rapid City). The food is good, albeit odd that there are only two choices on the evening menu - the filet mignon or the vegetarian option. We enjoyed the 9 oz... More

I've been there many times and never been disappointed. Don't go if you don't like steak. I have always enjoyed mine there. I have paid a lot more for a lot less, so I am happy. I love their dressing and they have great desserts. There is always a wait, but Hill City is a fun place to walk around... More
