Best lunch in the Black Hills

Great selection of European sandwiches the German potato salad is then tic and awesome. You have to have an in house dessert. My favorite sandwich is the cheesy turkey and dessert is raspberry tart. By far the best lunch experience in the whole black hills.

We came here for lunch after getting several recommendations from different people. We were not disappointed. We had two different sandwiches and shared....they were excellent. The service was very good. We were bummed that we had no room for dessert...desserts looked wonderful!

It was dining experience from Europe in a western South Dakota setting of the Black Hills. You are greeted by the owner of the establishment who is from Germany originally. The evening meal consists of two sizes of fillet mignons along with a wedge of lettuce and a baked potato. The noon lunches are all Bavaian style entrees. A historic... More

We have been coming here to eat for years. Always great food and yummy dessert. If you have 8 or more in your party call ahead and make a reservation first thing when they open or you will be waiting.

You may look at the dinner menu and want to walk out the door. DON'T! The selection is 6 or 9 ounce filet mignon. That is it. No chicken... no fish... no veggie burger. Steak - or steak. Of course you get a wedge salad with homemade ranch dressing, baked potato and toast. And the price? As of Feb 2015... More

We love eating at the Alpine Inn at Hill City SD. The Filet Mignon and all of the homemade desserts are fantastic. The German menu at lunch time is amazing also. And, the service is about the best you will find anywhere. We eat there several times each month. The wait times in the summer get pretty long, so go... More

If you can handle just two choices for dinner along with just two seating's for dinner this is the place for you. I was not going to wait for the second seating since they opened and started seating people before the listed hours for dinner. I arrived at the time listed and the place was already filled. No bothering to... More

Now you have a choice at dinner--filet mignon and a vegetarian dish. Lunch is good, but I am not a fan of German potato salad.

Locals go to the Alpine for lunch. Yeah, the filet mignon dinner is good and the price is right, but it's not worth the hype. You'll wait in line, feel rushed, and besides the dessert menu, have no choice besides large steak or small. The lunch menu is very nice and you get to choose from a nice variety including... More
