It was suggested by the desk person at our hotel to try this restaurant if we were in Hill City. We went in for lunch and had a great meal. The German potato salad was really good. My wife had the monte christo which she enjoyed. Went back for dinner where they only have two items on the menu. we... More

b. This restaurant is very unusual. It maintains very low prices for high quality meals but since it does not take reservations, there is no discipline whatsoever in maintaining a queue to get a table. We arrived close to two hours before dinner was open and there were already 30 people already there. Approximately 1 hour before the restaurant open,... More

Perhaps we hit a bad night, but we were really disappointed by the meal and even more by the service. Alpine Inn had been recommended by a foodie friend, so I was expecting a decent meal with good service. When we arrived (just after 5, when they start dinner service) we approached the hostess station. The hostess mumbled something as... More

We were recommended to eat here from others in the town oh Hill City. Simple menu best Filet I have had. Great desserts. Our Waitress was very friendly.

My husband and I were given a recommendation for the Alpine Inn by three different people - all saying great food, best in the area (we were staying in Rapid City). The food is good, albeit odd that there are only two choices on the evening menu - the filet mignon or the vegetarian option. We enjoyed the 9 oz... More

I've been there many times and never been disappointed. Don't go if you don't like steak. I have always enjoyed mine there. I have paid a lot more for a lot less, so I am happy. I love their dressing and they have great desserts. There is always a wait, but Hill City is a fun place to walk around... More

I want to start off by saying that this is one of the best places to get a Filet Mignon in Western South Dakota. They quality of the food is very good, there just aren't many options (during dinner). You have a choice between a small Filet, Large Filet, or a Vegetarian option. That's it. Wedge Lettuce with ranch, Bacon-Wrapped... More

I don't know why but that steak was the most bland piece of meat I have ever eaten. The fellow with me had the same opinion. Dessert was great.

A bare bones menu of only 2 dinner entrees but a great dessert menu with multiple choices. The filet mignon dinner was great and the bread pudding was beyond great. Service was very good. Not many places you can have a good dinner and decadent dessert for under $20.00. But take cash - they don't accept credit cards.

Lunch has the most variety. There's the German: spaetzle, smoked or fresh bratwurst, smoked pork chops, wiener schnitzel, red cabbage, German potato salad. Most things cost around $9-10 and the portions are generous. Then there is the sandwich menu; at least a dozen offerings from reubens to lox on a bagel. (The lox lured me away from the German plates.)... More
