Danke Alpine Inn and Hill City

Staying over in Keystone, SD near Mount Rushmore where, because it is OFF season, NO eateries are open, seriuosly not even the Dairy Queen or the Subway. Locked up tight till May we read on numerous doors. Seriously we ate at the ONLY place that is open last night! Drove over to Hill City and we... read more

The restaurant opened at 5:00 for dinner; hubby and I arrived at 5:20 and the place was packed. This was on a Monday in March! A quick look at the parking lot showed diners from four other states. The house wine was good. The dressing on the wedge of lettuce salad was very good, but the lettuce was drenched in... More

My wife Karen and I were amazingly fortunate enough to get to visit this establishment this evening. We are on day 47 of our retirement trip which has taken us to South Central and North America. We were in the restaurant purely because I spoke to a nice young man in Mount Rushmore National Park. The service was excellent and... More

Excellent bacon wrapped fillet! Wedge salad with homemade ranch is incredible. The best value in the hills at $11.95 a plate. The desserts are also tremendous and portioned to share.

This place is a nice break from the standard family restaurant. The German selections are good but there are many other options as well. Friendly staff and pretty fast service were a plus. One very odd thing to note however - they do not take credit cards. Luckily we had cash but not sure if they accept other forms like... More

My husband absolutely loved the German food here. He would have eaten here again if we would have let him. My son and I were not as impressed. I was able to find something, but our son had a harder time. I also thought it was a bit pricey.

Great selection of European sandwiches the German potato salad is then tic and awesome. You have to have an in house dessert. My favorite sandwich is the cheesy turkey and dessert is raspberry tart. By far the best lunch experience in the whole black hills.

We came here for lunch after getting several recommendations from different people. We were not disappointed. We had two different sandwiches and shared....they were excellent. The service was very good. We were bummed that we had no room for dessert...desserts looked wonderful!

It was dining experience from Europe in a western South Dakota setting of the Black Hills. You are greeted by the owner of the establishment who is from Germany originally. The evening meal consists of two sizes of fillet mignons along with a wedge of lettuce and a baked potato. The noon lunches are all Bavaian style entrees. A historic... More

We have been coming here to eat for years. Always great food and yummy dessert. If you have 8 or more in your party call ahead and make a reservation first thing when they open or you will be waiting.
