We stopped because it was convenient. The service was very poor. When I inquired with our waitress about the "slow" service, she stated that she was the only waitress. Well, there were only three booths with people in the Grille. So, I asked if she was cooking as well. She said no. Food was edible but not great. We ate... More

The Slate Creek Grill is a staple establishment around the Hill City area of the central Black Hills. The menu is varied but primarily meat and potato's whether its burgers or steaks and fries, baked, or mashed. If your into the basic good food to eat and travel on to the other sights in the Black Hills then Slate Creek... More

Stop here for good food. Service is ok. Don't expect great decorum. Simple tables and chairs and a bar and pool table in the middle.

This is a restaurant and bar in Hill City. There are not a lot of restaurant choices in the city so we tried this one. We arrived and were seated immediately. Our server came to take our drink orders and then she disappeared for quite a while. Somehow we got our order in but we never saw our server again.... More

Nice, friendly staff and good food. Good value and nice size servings. Clean and right at the end of town.

Our food was great! We ate dinner there and breakfast the next day and both were very enjoyable! The prices were great especially for a tourist town! The people were friendly, but the service was slow both times.

When the Slate Creek Grille in Hill City changed management earlier in 2014, we were hopefull that the same menu and wonderful waitstaff would continue to make this our favoirite Sunday morning breakfast, lunch, and dinner destination in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Although most of the restaurant's menu remained the same, the prices increased and the service became... More

My Mom, my Aunt, my friend, and I decided to stop in for a drink and a bite to eat after a day trip through Spearfish Canyon and out to Rochford. We asked the hostess if we could sit on the deck and she said sure, go ahead. The waitress came over and asked if she could help us. We... More

I had fried fish and sweet potato fries. It was average. Batter on fish was hard as a rock. My husband liked his grilled pork chop. Waitress forgot my drink. I had to ask for it when she served our food. She never came back until we were almost finished eating. Another long delay to get the check. The restaurant... More

We arrived early in Hill City to ride the 1880 train and decided to do breakfast before boarding. There were 4 of us and we each ordered something different. Michelle was our server and what a smile and great attitude :) I had the 1 Sweet Cream Pancake - the absolute best pancake I've ever had and it was the... More
