Make sure you make a reservation--lines out the door when we arrived. We were seated quickly, and our server was attentive and fast. All 3 adults tried the buffalo (two had the roast, one the steak); all loved it. The kids had pasta and their was good as well. Great atmosphere right on the main street through town. Highly recommended.

Family friendly, actually just friendly all round. The menu was decent, they had a good selection of beers and wines and when our waitress was admittedly a little slow in bringing our drinks, she immediately apologized and comped them, without a word from us.

We were passing through Hill City and chose Desperado's based on positive reviews. The menu was simple, but offered plenty of variety: buffalo burgers, chili, salad, and late breakfast. Our server was new, but friendly and attentive. It us located in a historic building with original hand-hewn logs.

I read mixed reviews on TripAdvisor so I was hesitant for us to eat at Desperados. I am so glad we ate there. The atmosphere can't be beat. The inside is worth the visit by itself. One ordered the quesadilla and two of us had BBQ sandwiches. All were very good. Drinks are served in mason jars. This is a... More

I consider myself a buffalo-burger expert. I like the taste, and I like the fact that they are healthier for me than a burger. Desperados serves a special buffalo burger that is actually even lower calorie than the buffalo meat that others serve. It was fresh, and cooked perfectly (not overcooked). The burger was very juicy, and tasty. (The burger... More

Filled with locals and tourists alike -- always a good sign! The steak was good, the salad was cold and tasty, the wine list was adequate. Dad would have preferred a whiskey, but they don't serve hard liquor here. We'll be back next time we're in the area.

Fresh food... My family of 6 each had a smothered burritos .. my 12 year old enjoyed the steak and eggs.I had a tasty appetizer quesadilla. Really nice staff, hand hewn original wooden walls, very well decorated. (Even the restroom is nicely done.) We would definitely come back again!!!

Great service, great food............what more can I say? The owner seated us and recommended one of the night's specials (bison roast). It was so good we went back the next night for the fish (huge portion). And, we ate here our last night, too.

Best meal we have had yet. Owner greeted and sat us. Service a bit slow, but personable. Nice history to the place, good for a conversation starter with the kiddos. Food was great value for the $. Salmon sandwich was tasty and the beans were 'home-made goodness' (and I never order beans at a restaurant). Shelly was attentive and friendly.... More

We are traveling in Motor Homes with another couple. We spotted this place and loved the "Curb Appeal" so we gave it a shot. We've been here before but not to Desperados. We were disappointed in several ways. Our server was a cute "Valley Girl" type with a nose piercing who answered every inquiry with "Fer Sure" Two of us... More
