Probably the best value Sunday lunch for miles around

We eat here fairly often but this was a first for Sunday Lunch. All the 4 roasts on offer, pork, turkey, beef & lamb came with a Yorkshire pudding. All except the beef came with stuffing (loads of it). All portions were large and there was plenty of gravy & vegetables. The only let-down for me was... read more

This is a regular haunt for us even though it a 16 m,ile round trip. As usual I had their gormet (their typo not mine) burger. Once I discovered this I was hooked. It is 2 very nice hand made 6oz burgers in a quality bun with 2 rashers of bacon and proper cheese, served with salad and chips. I... More

We had an evening meal at the Castlefields on the Sunday of May Bank Holiday weekend; we have visited this pub restaurant several times over this past few years, and as always the standard of their food was superb; good quality, well presented, good size portions, and very good value for money. We have a caravan near Hay on Wye,... More

We travel regular from the midlands to this pub, The staff are always attentive, nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend booking as this pub gets very very busy, The food is just out of this world, although I have never managed a pudding yet as the meals are soooooooo big, excellent value for money. This pub is child... More

This lovely old pub serves a very hearty Sunday lunch which would be hard to beat. Many choices of beautifully roasted meats, either, turkey, lamb, beef or pork. The accompanying plates of assorted vegetables are truly wonderful, baked and new potatoes, cauliflower with creamy cheese sauce, carrots, cabbage, beans, pumpkin and of course yorkshire pudding, all for 10 GBP. The... More

We live in the Hay-on-Wye area where our local restaurants leave much to desire. Regulary now we go to The Castlefields where we always receive a good welcome from the landlady and staff. The food never fails to please, a good choice of starters, really good wholesome mains and if you can manage a sweet after your feast, then indulge,... More

What a lunch! Fantastic! This is our restaurant of choice for a traditional Sunday Roast. We have visited many times and have always found the food, service and ambience exceptional. There is a choice of starters and 3 or 4 different roasts to choose from as well as vegetarian options. The meat and gravy comes on the plate and then... More

Recently visited for Sunday lunch and was very disappointed by both the quality of the food and the service. Got seated very quickly and the waitress rushed to take our food order (before the drinks had arrived!) we had starters which were lovely, very basic, deep fired brie and homemade tomato soup, the whole time we were eating the waitresses...
