These places started disappearing in the 50's. How and why this is still here in the otherwise quiet little town of Elk Point is beyond me. It features real soda fountain delights from the good old days, prepared by trained soda jerks. If you have never had a phosphate, give it a try. The root beer floats are superb. Turn... More

Not too many of these fun small-town soda fountains left. This is a fine one, you can swivel around on your counter-stool and see the drug store behind you as your treat is prepared. And, yes, they do know how to make a chocolate soda (one of the tests of authenticity). Also, this is right on Main Street in Elk... More

This is a gem that unless you know it is there you will miss it. It is located in a small town and has the small time feel. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked how they could help me. I asked what they recommended and they recommended the old fashion soda. They made it right in front... More

I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon with my family, including two kids. We ordered a root beer float, a turtle sundae, and a brownie sundae. All were excellent, and service was quick and friendly.

We had seen the signs along I-29 dozens of times and today decided to take the time to stop. Very nostalgic soda fountain in the heart of this tiny SD town. Worth the stop for ice cream. The staff were all young kids but if they took the time to learn about real "jerks" they could turn this into an... More

You won't find very many authentic ice cream parlors still in existence so when in the area, you really should make an effort to get to Edgar's. There is an extensive menu of parlor favorites and many decadent combo sundaes. Definitely worth the calories!

this place is an experience, a must stop when going through the area. It's set up like an old fashioned ice cream shop and is a great time.
