Description: Seafood restaurant in Sumter Sc that serves Caolina style fried shrimp, ocean fish both fried and broiled, hush puppies, vegetables. Known mostly to locals who don't mind the 50's style decor. Everything is clean as a whistle, stand in line to give your order, then they bring to you. Basic prices are lowest possible, but the chef knows his seafood.

The local news station had been running an ad for this place for a while ,and with my wife's love of sea food we tried it. Well what a lovely surprise it was ,outstanding food price and service. All the food is lovely fresh and made to order , I'm not a big sea food fan so I have the... More

I have been going to this restaurant for a long time. Recently they have gone up on price and down on quality. I ordered a catfish nugget dinner and I received six(6) very small pieces of fish, a very small container of green beans and one hushpuppy.

Tried The Shrimper after getting a recommendation from someone living in the area as we travel. Lori Ann was great and said they stand by their food. One lady we talked with said she eats there once a week. The food was great, especially the squash casserole! Beaufort get to the back of the line! Thanks Lori Ann.

This place was great!!! It's a mom and pop, non chain restaurant. Great servers and great attitude. Food was fresh and hot. Cooked to order. I can't wait to come back!!

Visiting the area for business, and locals sent me here when I requested a good, relaxed local place, and preferably seafood. All deep fried, and I wouldn't want to ask when their last pill change was! Solid local food, good service, and the waitresses keep coming around to check on drinks. Okay local Southern fried seafood, and lower prices.

The shrimper has been in summer for as long as i can remember. And I'm 27 and have lived here all my life. The food is always good, the true southern cooked food. I like to go because it reminds me if my grandmothers cooking....almost. The staff is always so nice. And i personally don't like to be bothered constantly... More

Order the fried biscuit instead of the hushpuppies. If you need a seafood fix and you're broke, go here. The shrimp and oyster plate is $12.95. You walk in and place your order at the register. You get a number and they bring the food to you. They also have home made macaroni and cheese and sea scallops.

Visited this restaurant for the first time in 12 years since moving away from SC. The Shrimper is the same. Absolutely no upgrades to the facility. The lighting is poor, the seating is poor, and the management has yet to learn that tarter sauce should not be left out on tables for 12 hours. I selected the fried chicken. It... More

The Shrimper has excellent fried seafood and sides. They are cooked just right. I have never had a problem from the Shrimper. The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly. It is a little expensive. But, usually worth it.
