Is it more hype than reality?

I had never been and had always heard how wonderful their burgers are. I say they are just average. My burger was good with the added slaw. I had never thought of adding slaw to a hamburger! I can now check this place off my bucket list!

Visiting friends who live in Spartanburg. The Beacon was a place they said I just had to go to. Since the locals find this to be a go to place I have rated it a 4. The place has history and a story. There is something on the menu for just about everyone and the portions we good especially on... More

I know people from across the US who will stop by Spartanburg to give the Beacon a try. A permanent fixture since atleast the 60's. If you need a grease fix; this is your place. They do have no greasy food, but you have to hard for it. I like the Chicken Salad sandwich.

Love it or hate it, the Beacon is an enigma. I can eat for 2 days on a plenty plate. I love their onion rings & theirs is the only tea I will drink. Their lemonade is wonderful too!

Love the beacon. Be sure to order you a plate with fries and onion rings. You will get more than enough for two. Everything is good at the Beacon!

I believe this is the first review that is more negative than positive that I have ever written. While I realize that SC's restaurants are often connected with fried food, I never would have imagined such saturation. The one good thing this place has going is the man that greeted us & took our order. He was super friendly &... More

Saw this, and was like, "Yea! That place is historic!"...so wish we had gone some where else. The man who took our order was nice, but if you ordered the food with the wrong description, then he corrected you...I guess that was part of the "historical" part as I knew before we went in that he could be kind of... If you ever wondered what the "world" was like before McDonald's, Panera, Five Guys, Chipolte, etc. walk into The Beacon. If ever there was a place where architecture, food, and service cry out for updating, The Beacon is it. Nothing seems to have changed in 40 years, and that's not a good thing. We were lured to stop by because... More

Beacon Drive In is an old time greasy spoon that's full of life and wonderful food most of us grew up on. Now they tell us it's unhealthy, but from time to time who cares. The burgers, fries, soda's and other up country delicacies are all there. You order at one end and move down the line as they make... More
