Interesting and fun

The Gullah Grub is right across the street from Penn Center. We had the following meals and would highly recommend any of them: Crab chowder, Fish chowder and 1/2 order of ribs with potato salad. There is a video running of the chef doing a presentation on the Food Network. He came out of the... read more

This is not your average restaurant! Eating here is an experience of the best kind. Classic Low Country food at its best. Martha Stewart and Anthony Bourdain have both done features on the restaurant, food and the owner - Bill Green. The Crab soup is wonderful, the Gumbo is perfect and the Frogmore Stew you just have to have. Don't... More

Gullah Grub is a great restaurant and Bill Green is a treat. You should not miss this experience. The food is delicious - perfectly cooked and seasoned. He is so committed to keeping the Gullah way of cooking alive. He is working with young people to teach them farming and then the Gullah secrets of cooking.

Loved the atmosphere, as it made me feel like I was in my grandmother's kitchen. Great conversation about the history of this part of the low country. Will dine again.

We enjoyed very much our experience at this restaurant...especially the two sisters who were serving that day. The food was great and very different from our usual fare in Kansas. Thank you for a great time!

Went to Gullah grub for lunch today. I had the ribs which were meaty and delicious, my husband had the chopped barbecue with the red rice and collards, and our friend had the gumbo. We all liked the food though our friend thought it was a little pricey. It was a little pricey for lunch but was well worth it.... More

I've eaten here twice, five years apart. One thing I will say is that the place is not lacking in character. There is artwork everywhere. EVERYWHERE. It's a little overwhelming to take in so much visual stimulation at once, but give your eyes a few minutes to adjust. The menu can be a little tricky if you have dietary restrictions.... More

We arrived and they hadn't opened yet so we visited the art gallery across the street. When we checked again, the place was packed! We tried everything of course and the owner and chef treated us great!

The food was good. They have a seafood soup/chowder that is amazing but its pricy for the type of place it is and not a very large serving for the price. The squash casserole is probably my favorite side. Very no frills atmosphere and could be tidier. Our server seemed new and/or uncertain and had to ask someone in the... More

Sarah and Bill Green are wonderful. Try the gumbo. Low Country gumbo is not New Orleans gumbo. What a beautiful historic building. The owners are charming. This is a wonderful place to stop for history and good food. Get to know the Low Country culture with these wonderful people and their local Low Country Cuisine.
