Great little restaurant for a lowcountry lunch.

I reserve "5" for a very, very exceptional restaurant, so don't let my "4" be misinterpreted. Located in historic area of Port Royal. somewhat off the beaten path, as it were. I've read reviews and heard friends talk. So why not make it a stop before fireworks on Independence day? It was easy, the atmosphere was calm, and the ambiance was enjoyable. Our server was knowledgable, helpful, and interactive. Owner Jeff was on site and genuinely interested in our experience. We learned he hosts music on Fridays, and found his guitar... More

Moondoggies is a local favorite, just off the beaten path in a renovated old 2 story house in Port Royal. The staff is friendly and the food is local, fresh, reasonably priced, and very good - and best fried pickles anywhere! I went to lunch there recently with my family, nice selection of sandwiches and salads for lunch. Our favorites... More

My family and I stopped in for lunch today. First, the atmosphere was great. There are trees covered in Spanish about the dirt parking lot. The regulars inside were treated like old friends or family by the staff. The wait staff all seemed very attentive. Our specific waitress gave the impression that she decided to work there just because the... More

The building is very cute, surrounded with cats outside. They also have the best fried pickles around! All time favorite lunch spot.

Moon Doggies is tucked away under trees and Spanish moss ,down in Port Royal . It just so happened we got there as a huge thunderstorm came through ,so we're the only guests ! Menu was great ,actually a lot more than we had expected ! Our only peeve was the plastic cup for shrimp sauce and tartare . After... More

Moondoggie was a wonderful surprise! We were not even heading there to eat, but decided to try it. Our waitress was very attentive suggesting items to order and bringing wine samples for us to try. We both commented our meals were some of the top we had eaten in Beaufort. Blackened Mahi salad with feta and hush puppy crumbles was... More

Meals were excellent! My sister and I enjoyed a delightful evening dining experience. Our waitress was southern grace and courtesy and immediately made us feel like family! We enjoyed tilapia, an appetizer of artichokes, leeks in a bubbly cheese sauce... AND the famous fried Boars Head pickles with a horse radish sauce that just made you go "YAH Baby!"

Off the beaten path, tucked away very unique environment in beautiful, quaint Port Royal. The service and food are both excellent. We've dined there many times and always top notch
