Our last visit was in April and I hear ownership has recently changed since the last visit. This place has a constant turnover of help. Not a happy place. Bakery items are expensive yet some are very good, but I would pass on the cakes, they are disappointing. The restaurant has a fried green tomato club that is very good... More

The best fried green tomato club sandwich on the planet. The cakes are to die for. It is a delightful hidden gem and a must visit restaurant.

A bakery delight. Everything high quality and crafted with much care. It is an art form for your tastebuds.

The Bakery side of the Village Cafe is fabulous and full of wonderful breads and pastries. I have been there many times and have not been disappointed. I went for breakfast in the Cafe side the other day. My food was decent nothing extraordinary but good. However my friends food had to be sent back as the food was not... More

Second time for brunch and thought it was really bad. Lots of breads and desserts, food is not kept hot but rather luke warm or cold. Bacon is not crisp cooked and eggs looked good but were bland with runny, milky liquid. Tried the BLT pasta and it had a strange after taste. Also very expensive! If you're planning to... More

Went here for a quick breakfast and not in any hurry to rush back. The staff was not very friendly, not really rude just kind of indifferent. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant which looked delicious in the case. However it was served cold and had obviously been baked hours ago. It was incredibly greasy and instead of being... More

The breakfast menu here is the best! The grits are the best I've ever had and you can choose from fresh made bakery bread with your eggs and bacon or sausage. Price is good too! Lunch is excellent too! Chicken salad is the local favorite. We live in the area and eat here frequently.

This is a lovely little bakery and cafe! The menu has soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps and, of course, delicious bakery items. My sister and I each had the Fried Green Tomato Club and my Mom had the Bacon & Egg Salad Sandwich. We picked up some mini cannolis, blueberry scones and an elephant ear to snack on at home.... More

So, it's only open for 3 hours on Sunday, and not until 11. Absolutely worth the wait! It's a buffet brunch with a great choice of breakfast breads, salads, meats, grits, eggs, chowders, etc. Not everything is great, but then again, it's a buffet, and chowders can be bland. The home fries and meatloaf with a tomato sauce was amazing.... More

We and two friends decided on a short road trip from Anderson, SC, and made the good decision to choose The Village Baker and Café. As it turned out, each of us had a different sandwich: a chicken salad, a Reuben, a café club, and (I believe) a fried green tomato club. My club was delicious as was my wife's... More
