I choose my dessert first then proceeded to the restaurant and ordered a Monte Cristo with potato salad and sweet tea. Very, very good. Thankfully I sat away from others and could lick my fingers in private. Ha. I ended up taking three different types of cakes home. Italian Wedding, carrot cake and chocolate something. My wife and I shared... More

Recently got new management and has added Mediterranean items to the menu, but kept the traditional favorite bakery items. Friendly staff and atmosphere is great. Breads, cookies, cakes, and breakfast danishes are a must. If you want lunch go to the cafe and have a wonderful sandwich, quiche or salad with homemade dressing.

Pendleton, South Carolina, is a charming place by itself. But what makes it really Special is the Village Baker and Cafe. It is a place from the Old World, simply delightful. The goodies from the bakery are outstanding. It is worth to drive a long long distance just to go and enjoy. Even the coffee offered in the coffee shop... More

The food was very good, enjoyed the shrimp and stone ground grits. It was a Sunday after a football game, so it was very busy. The staff was nice but they didn't come around to fill our drinks often. I would like to go back when it wasn't after a football game

Have frequented this bakery/cafe since it opened about 5 years ago. A little pricey but the original owner's pastries and breads were absolutely inspired. All the good things to be enjoyed from a high quality New Jersey/New York City style bakery with huge variety and excellent ingredients. They would even prepare special requests in advance for items not normally offered... More

The good: The food was as we had hoped. The buffet allowed us to choose whatever we wanted, and with a large group that really helped. The bad: The wait staff. Extremely disappointed. We had called ahead with a reservation, and had some added after we made the reservation, so to be fair we had a pretty large group. Still,... More

Our last visit was in April and I hear ownership has recently changed since the last visit. This place has a constant turnover of help. Not a happy place. Bakery items are expensive yet some are very good, but I would pass on the cakes, they are disappointing. The restaurant has a fried green tomato club that is very good... More

The best fried green tomato club sandwich on the planet. The cakes are to die for. It is a delightful hidden gem and a must visit restaurant.
