Mama Rue was lovely. She was so friendly that it is almost hard to write a bad review. We enjoyed the outdoor setting & had it all to ourselves....later we wondered if that should have been a bad sign. The appetizers were pretty decent. Great chicken livers. The entrees were terrible. Don't get the burger or the slaw. After waiting... More

Best place for live blues and jerk chicken, pork, fish, etc. The collards and cabbage melt in your mouth. The Fish is my favorite - escavitch style. Try it! Mama at the Bar is an absolute doll. We haven driven 4 hours just to have dinner here, turn around the next day and go home. Very relaxed atmosphere. Don't expect... More

Yuk. Everything else was not good. I should have stayed with Perrone's! The wine was served in a mini glass and was 6.00 for maybe 2 or 3 ozs. My husband actually got sick from his food. Not going back.

We took a chance on this place and loved it. The menu was limited but if you are looking for fresh local seafood, this is the place. My husband and I both had the grilled jerk grouper with collards and rice and the meal was exceptional. It was a Wednesday night and we enjoyed listening to George playing inside. The... More

LOCAL SEAFOOD at Mama Rue's MaRue is a sweetheart and makes everyone feel welcome Eric understands the blessing of our fresh food that's available right accross Hwy 17. He prepares it in his native Jamacian way......Good Mon :) Go by for a beer or a drink and some good food. Relax, you're at PI laura

Stumbled upon this place while visiting a friend in Pawleys Island, SC. It's an unassuming little place, but out back there is a bar nestled under a large tree with lights dangling overhead. Small candlelit tables lay out before an outdoor blues stage. I was blown away! Atmosphere alone makes this place a must see!

Full disclosure- I'm friends with the owner and the chef. If you like Jamaican food and getting drunk while listening to live music this is your place. Chef Eric makes everything to order, from scratch, and it's good. I've had everything they offer and I've yet to be disappointed. Most dishes are spicy and I recommend an ice cold Red... More

Loved the Jerk Chicken and Pork! Went when there was entertainment. Had a good time. Have also visited the bar, and enjoyed it.

This has a ramble shack appeal, with mismatched table wear, unusually shaped room and equally uneven food. Mama Rue, who served us, is a lovely soul and so is her chef. What is apparent that a large group, 8, late at night, is not a great combination for chef's dishes as everything is prepared ala minute...and since chef is solo... More

If you like fall off the bone, melt in your mouth cuisine, go to Mama Rue's....I can write a short novel about this restaurant, but I won't bother. It's a must visit, and I know once you take your first bite of whatever is on the menu, you'll understand!!! Value, atmosphere, service, cuisine, you name it. Plus the entertainment. Second... More
