Lil' Germany in ol' Myrtle Beach

We had potato cakes for an appetizer and they were delicious. The sauerbraten was excellent. The red cabbage was a little to sweet for me but it did have good taste. It is an excellent change of pace when you need more than fish!

Had a wonderful experience at this little German Place!! The service was outstanding! We ate dinner at the bar and the bartender Kim was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the menu, beautiful smile and GREAT personality. We had never eaten here before and she was able to suggest some dishes for us to try. My husband had veal and I had... More

So many times I drove by this place and by-passed it for other restaurants. Talking to the owner he said that they are in their 31st year. Obviously they are doing something right!! Needless to say, I should have gone awhile ago. we had: spaetzle ($2 extra and it is not listed on the menu) Pork Jaeger Schnitzel and Wiener... More

If you like ingredients that come out of a can, this is the place for you! German potato salad, cold and made with canned potatoes, canned red cabbage, Bavarian ghoulish served over cheap egg noodles, and very tart cucumbers(these were not canned but also not tasty. The presentation of the food was enough to turn your stomach even before eating,... More

The waitress was pleasant and kept our beverages refreshed but I wouldn't eat here again. I have had amazing German food while traveling in PA and this didn't hold a candle to it. The meat was tough and served luke warm. The potato dumplings were spongy and tasteless. I ordered an apple strudel for dessert and was hard pressed to... More

I hate to do this because the owner and the accordion player was so nice. The food was not great but I am writing and hoping the owner takes notice. We parked around back and at the back door just outside the kitchen was a sink with a container very full with cigarette butts. The worse part was that we... More

My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal at Horst Gasthaus this evening. The staff was very charming and efficient. We started with good German draught beer and the potato pancakes. Both were excellent. My wife had the chicken schnitzel and loved it. I had the jaeger schnitzel and it was decent. The spaetzle was a little overcooked...and I... More

We have eaten at Horst Gasthaus many times. Last night was Valentine's Day and we chose to have our celebration there. Fortunately, we had reservations as the restaurant was very busy. We were greeted by the owner and taken to a prime table near the accordian player. Everything that we ordered was authentic German fare all cooked and served perfectly.Our... More

My husband and I joined a party of 18 other guests from our resort to eat dinner at the Horst Gasthaus. We'd heard good reviews of the food, and decided to join the others as we had a promotion through Restaurant.com. With the purchase of a $25 certificate at this particular restaurant, we were required to spend $50 on our... More

My husband and I decided to go to this restaurant and we had one of the worst dining experiences. We were given a basket of MOLDY bread, which was replaced with another moldy bread basket. TWICE and she gave us the excuse, "it is that time of year." Once was bad enough but by the third basket, it should have... More
