Great location, good food

Red's Ice House is on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. The atmosphere is very casual--more like a bar/grill and not a restaurant. Go for the outside dining facing the creek and watch paddle boarders, pelicans, and dolphins. We got a large shrimp basket ($10.99) with fries. It's not the best... read more

It's always a pleasure to go to Red's. Very casual and easy-going. Beautiful view of Shem Creek from either deck. Food and service are always good. And their cocktails that are served in a bucket (my fav is the Cruzan Confusion) are AWESOME!

The food was really good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun. They had a live band so we sat on the patio for dinner and enjoyed the music!

We ate here on a recommendation from a friend. The food was pretty good. Wife had lobster macaroni which she like. I had the fish and chips was excellent. The boys had a burger, which was ok and my other son had chicken tacos and he liked them. The only 2 issues would maybe more selections for people who do... More

We had 30 plus people with one waitresses. You talk about amazing she did a great job keeping everything straight. My mom highly recommends the She Crab soup. I had a hamburger (yes I got a hamburger at a Seafood place) it was overcooked but again who orders a hamburger at a Seafood place. My husband had the blackened grouper.... More

We sat right on the water for lunch and watched the boats, dolphins, paddle boarders go by. We wanted a quick lunch and didn't want to do anything fancy so Red's was our pick. We got the fried green tomatoes, which were actually delicious. They were battered in cornmeal and came with a pimento cheese dip. My boyfriend got the... More

We've eaten here a couple times while on day trips to the Charleston area. One plus is that it's dog friendly. During our last visit the wait person brought a small bucket of cold water for our dog, being that it was a very hot day. Very casual dress. Food's decent, too.

Staying in Mount Pleasant for one night while picking our son up from The Citadel. Decided to try out Reds as it was recommended to us by locals. Cool atmosphere, pretty lively at 8:30 on a Thursday. Food was served quickly. Grouper sandwich was good, loved the jalapeño hush puppies and the hand cut chips. Husband got fish and chips... More

The She Crab soup was great, everyone liked it. The other meals were just average bar food. The location was right on the river, with good views.

The views are great, but that's about it. They have a limited beer selection (all in bottles, and nothing local from what I recall). Go early for a space on the patio. Avoid the food, it's not that great. Also, avoid holidays and nice Sunday afternoons, I brought an out of town visitor and when going into the bathroom there... More
