A fine meal, and very accommodating to special diets.

Everything was first class - the service, the food, the accomodations for Paelo gluten-free diets. It was ALL good!

We honestly ate here because we planned on going to Basil, not realizing that they aren't open for Sunday lunch. We were all starving after church, so we looked across the street and saw that Opal was serving brunch. It's a little nicer restaurant than we normally dine at with our boys (9 and 10), but they held it together... More

This restaurant is reasonably priced, has a nice ambiance, great service and unbelievable food. The shrimp bruschetta is spicy and delicious. The shrimp bisque was creamy and tasty. The charcuterie board was a nice combination of meats and cheeses. Cheeseburger was big enough to share. The waffles were - mmm!! It's always nice to go with your family because you... More

My wife and I recently visited Opal, which is near our home. Great experience. Our waiter was friendly but not overly intrusive. We had the oysters which were fresh and delicious. My wife had the local fish special, which was tender and delicious. I had a steak that was done perfectly. The portions were right sized and came out on... More

One of our "go-to" places, this time for an out-of-town houseguest. As always, started with the first-rate bruschetta (shrimp, lovely tomatoes and just a bit of chile zing). This appetizer will easily feed two, so split it. Homemade pasta of the day featured shrimp, sausage, radicchio (yes, we've had it before elsewhere and it goes great in pasta, mushrooms and... More

Fresh, homemade pastas, a small semi-formal environment what's not to like. We enjoy ordering the excellent Charcuterie with a half plate each of the pasta with a nice bottle of wine...great value and great food. This is as good as you are going to get downtown. Period.

We ate here twice while staying near Charleston. Both Noel & Nick were excellent servers and Nick even had the kitchen make me hot chocolate though it wasn't on the menu, because the weather had turned unseasonably cold and I really needed some! The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious and generous portions. The bisque was good to the last drop,... More

Every meal we've had here has been oustanding. Pasta made in house. Ricotta gnocchi with duck ragout was awesome. The shrimp bruschetta and the local clams with house made sausage are staples on the menu and we get them every time we dine here. You can't pass up the fried egg on top of country ham and asparagus when it's... More

As locals we see a lot of restaurants come and go. Our party of four women agreed that the soup was excellent as was the Charcuterie. But everyone's meal turned out to be a disappointment, and we each ordered something different. Most food seemed to be coated in olive oil, including the pastas and salads. While the atmosphere was nice,... More

This is an expensive restaurant for the Mount Pleasant side of the Cooper River, which takes it out of the realm of "I don't feel like cooking tonight." and puts it into "Special Occasions". Not a "value" restaurant, in other words, although it is more casual than sister restaurant Langdon's. We were taken here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It... More
