In the mid 1900's a new chapter of history was made in a small town in Little River S.C. At that time a restaurant was opened in the very banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, called Capt. Juel's Hurricane. In the mid 70's the restaurant was brought by Joe Robertson, who still owns it today. You will still find Mr. Joe in and around the kitchen and his wife Deanna behind the bar mixing up killer drinks or in the kitchen preparing the luscious desserts. The restaurant is managed by their daughter Heidi and her husband Clayton, it truly is a family affair. In 2014 the place under went a total renovation inside and out. The restaurant now features a new Sushi Bar, that's a must have over looking the untouched marshlands. Capt. Juel's stills brings you the freshest seafood, hand cut steaks and chops. The menu is filled with a variety of choices from tacos to burgers. Or maybe just stop by the have a drink on the deck and enjoy seeing the fishing boats bring in the catch of the day.

Great views, good food

We had never eaten here before, but saw an add in a book in our hotel room and decided to give it a whirl. They take call-ahead seating which is nice because we travel with a larger party. When we arrived, we asked to sit outside and so we had to wait a little longer for a table, but it... read more

The 8 oz ribeye was cooked perfectly. the hush puppies were great. The fried seafood platter with flounder and shrimp was lightly coated and fresh tasting. Our waitress, McCoy, was very pleasant and efficient. She had a little trouble convincing us to try the hummingbird cake

This place is very comfortable and very social. The food was GREAT and the service was excellent!! They have the BEST desserts in town by far, all homemade daily. The shrimp and scallops were unbelievable!! The view is one of a kind right on the river, and outdoor dining is available, The staff and owners were all very friendly, not... More

Very disappointing. The service was friendly, but slow. It took over 5 minutes to be acknowledged at the door (and they were not busy) After being seated the food service was also slow. The Shrimp and Grits were marginal, not award winning as advertised. Very soupy. Rib Eye Steak was ordered medium rare and came to the table Well Done.... More

Good place for seafood on the water. We enjoyed setting outside and having dinner. Their hushpuppies were yummy as well as their shrimp.

So, the good. Service was friendly. View is good, right on the river. Nice view from the bar too. Now the bad, service was super slow, 30 minutes for food. My Mahi sandwich was ok once i removed everything and just ate the fish. The sides were marginal. I would not 2nd this place is.
