In the mid 1900's a new chapter of history was made in a small town in Little River S.C. At that time a restaurant was opened in the very banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, called Capt. Juel's Hurricane. In the mid 70's the restaurant was brought by Joe Robertson, who still owns it today. You will still find Mr. Joe in and around the kitchen and his wife Deanna behind the bar mixing up killer drinks or in the kitchen preparing the luscious desserts. The restaurant is managed by their daughter Heidi and her husband Clayton, it truly is a family affair. In 2014 the place under went a total renovation inside and out. The restaurant now features a new Sushi Bar, that's a must have over looking the untouched marshlands. Capt. Juel's stills brings you the freshest seafood, hand cut steaks and chops. The menu is filled with a variety of choices from tacos to burgers. Or maybe just stop by the have a drink on the deck and enjoy seeing the fishing boats bring in the catch of the day.

Great She Crab Soup

We always eat lunch at Capt. Juel's during our vacation every year to Cherry Grove Beach, S.C. He makes the best She Crap Soup and has an awesome lunch menu. My husband loves their shrimp Po' Boy. It comes with slaw and fries with po boy sauce and is fantastic! I always get a bowl of the soup with... read more

We went there July 18th after reading the reviews but found it was just 'another restaurant serving fried seafood' - nothing out of the ordinary. Four ladies on a weekend away! The place is older, service was ok. Would we go back - probably not. Stopped by the Irish pub next door for a drink and think we'll try that... More

I am a local to the area. Have grown up here all of my life. Most restaurants you go to have frozen seafood that is shipped in from other areas. This place does not. Their seafood was fresh and was prepared well. It is not a cheap place. But for what you get it is worth the price. If you... More

We enjoyed the patio on the river as it was a beautiful evening. Some good fish nuggets for an appetizer. The house honey poppyseed dressing was good on an average iceberg salad otherwise. Had great she crab soup and the mahi and grits were unique but really just a blackened filet on the side of the creamy grits. Prices were... More

The food was good. Nothing spectacular. Portions are average and prices are about what you'd expect. They do serve sushi which was a hit. The service from our waiter was very good. The stuffed shrimp, Mexican roll and pork chops were the best items that were ordered at our table.

Look no more .... this is the BEST restaurant on the coast. Great food, wonderful staff and a breath taking view. Owners, Joe and June treat you like old friends and the staff is terrific. Restaurant has been recently updated - yet still gives the local low country home feel. The waterfront deck is a relaxing place to sit and... More
