Good home style cooking

There are something like 15 locations of this restaurant in the Columbia/Lexington area. It has been a family favorite for about 35 years and we still keep going back! They serve good southern homestyle cooking - don't think healthy. Just enjoy the flavor! Our personal family favorites are country... read more

Lizards Thicket is a family owned and family operated business offering Southern Style Home Cooked Meals. Breakfast, dinner and Supper are served daily at a very reasonable price and the food choices are mind boggling. All meals are prepared using old southern recipes. The family atmosphere is very appealing and enjoyable. Give it a try, I promise you won't be... More

Lizard's Thicket is a great place to eat in Lexington if you are looking for a meat and 3. Their chicken, fried or baked, is very good and their collards, mac n cheese and cabbage sides are really good. They have a wide variety to suit just about everyone's taste buds. Country fried steak is also delightful as is their... More

Stopped in for a quick takeout. They got the wrong kind of country gravy to go with it.Other wise it was pretty standard fare of eggs over easy , home fries and country ham and Corn bread . maybe if I dined in it would have seemed a little better. it is convenient and has the basic same products. The... More

Stopped in to this location for first time customers. Daughter and I were surprised at choices and amount of food served. Prices were very reasonable and the food had a Great Southern Flavor. If in area again will stop for sure.... Very helpful and good staff.

As a college student I had eaten at Lizard's Thicket many years ago and I had a found memory of my experience. Passing through Columbia we stopped to eat for lunch. Our bill was ~$21 for two of us. The BAD Forgive us for expecting a chicken salad that had boneless chicken. Seriously. My wife got a bbq chicken salad... More

It was a very rainy day today and I had never had the spicy blackeye pea soup before although I have known for a long time that it was a menu offering based on the time of year. It's a seasonal item. I called to see if they had it available and was told that they were serving it. We... More

I am not a fan. Their food is not bad, but it isn't great either. Maybe my mother and grandmother were outstanding cooks and that is why I feel like I grew up on so much better, but it's just not the best to me.

Anytime I am in the mood for veggies, we go to Lizzard's Thicket. No matter which one you go to, they all seem to be consistent, so there are no surprises. I especially like the green beans (pole beans) and the cornbread.
