Great local spot

I wanted to try one of the local seafood spots and Gilligan's was closest so I tried it out. The fish I had was tasty, the prices were great and the service was excellent. Like a lot of restaurants in the area, I wish there were more healthy options.

Local fresh seafood. Had flounder and oyster dinner and next day went back for spinach salad with grilled scallops. Both meals were very tasty, and service was very courteous. Will dine there again on future trips.

I worked in the food and beverage industry for 7 years from fast food to Bartending to get myself through college, and my boyfriend is a chef at a private country club in the area. We understand how the food and beverage industry works. I was very unimpressed with the service at this restaurant; however, the food was great. While... More

Went to Gilligans many times to get local oysters. There are only a few restaurants that have local oysters available in season [months with an R in them]. Had the tray vs the all you can eat. The oysters were well steamed as requested which makes it easy to open them. This selection does not come with any sides. My... More

We were staying nearby and Gilligan's was recommended by the hotel. Staff was very friendly. I was looking forward to some raw oysters , but was disappointed because they were very small. Also ordered the Surf and Turf which was very .

We have eaten many times at other locations of this Charleston chain, but this was my first time at the John's Island location. I had the seafood platter and thoroughly enjoyed all four items on it - flounder, shrimp, scallops, and oysters. Out of the nice selection of sides, I chose grits and fried okra. The okra was good, but... More

$15 all you can eat Oyster Roast on the patio(parking Lot) on thursdays. Can't beat the price and the oysters just keep coming. They have beer and moonshine for sale also. Nice employees running the roast. New remodel is not bad. Nice aquariums divide the room of dinning tables is a nice touch they just need an avid aquarist to... More

Gilligan's is a well-known seafood chain around Charleston, and the one on Johns Island boasts probably the best food of them all (maybe a difference in cooks). They recently remodeled because of a fire, it looks fine. But there is one server there who made our experience something to brag about, Chelsea. She's this tiny little spitfire who always has... This was our first trip to Gilligan's after the fire. Great remodeling job and same great food. I had the shrimp & Grits and had to take some home for "breakfast" the next day...very good, but the gravy needed some "help"..good, but tasted "canned". The cheese grits were some of the best. My wife is a Salmon connoisseur... said hers... More
