Hidden Gem on Hwy 17

Great little quiet and warm friendly spot well worth the stop on Savanah Highway. Reasonable prices for creatively tasty meals. A must stop if nearby.

i love this place - it's no where near where we live but it is a highlight on a trip to Charleston. We have lunch there whenever possible. my husband almost always gets the fried shrimp and truffle fries. i tend to try the daily specials - Tuesday's special was boneless chicken breast, fried and served on biscuits w/ gravy+... The service is good and the food is served fairly quickly. Despite being a small restaurant, they get customers in and out quickly. We had the country fried steak which came with a potato croquette. The country fried steak was good and the potato croquette was great. We also ordered the fried shrimp which had fantastic seasoning. I could definately... More

We stopped in for Sunday brunch. My wife and I both had the biscuits and gravy with eggs. You could tell the food was fresh and homemade. According to the menu, most comes from local sources. We thought it was a step above many of the other places we have eaten in the area.

The food did not measure up to our lunch last year. The fried green tomatoes on the sandwich were small, very thin and mostly breaded. Toast was dry and much larger than the sandwich filling. It was not a good sandwich. Hamburger was overcooked. There was even a fee if asking for more dressing. The other choices were just ok.... More

On our way home from Edisto Island, we stopped here based on a recommendation from a tour guide on the Island. Glad we did. The fried green tomatoes were exceptional - great pimento topping. I had the ham and brie sandwich with the parmesan truffle oil fries. My wife had the cheeseburger with candied brussel sprouts. All were excellent. Service... More

Angel Oaks The setting for this restaurant was fairly simple and right off of Route 17. It had a cute country flair to it and doesn’t attempt to be lavish. But the food is delicious! We went for lunch and ordered the fried green tomatos and they were the best I’ve had so far! We also ordered the blue plate... More

We have driven by this restaurant on John's Island on Hwy 17 (Savannah Hwy) many times without realizing it was a quaint little restaurant. We finally went there and were pleasantly surprised at both food quality and service. Our server Ron greeted us and told us about the daily specials as well as menu items. The crab suffed pasta and... More

We were prepared not to like this, because we came on a sunday and they only had brunch. We were not in the mood for breakfast food, but it was incredible. Very unusual twists to the classics.
