Had dinner with my family Friday night at Hege's. This was the 2nd visit in two years. I have dined at most of the top restaurants in Charleston (Husk, Fig...) and I would easily consider Hege's in the same league with those. We shared a few apps, which included one of the best caprese salads I have ever had with... More

The escargot is the Best-On-The-Planet. I'm serious. The escargot is fabulous. I get it every time we go to Hege's and we dine here a lot. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal or bad service. Almost everything is expensive in the Kiawah Island area. Like my friend says, "Kiawah is the home of the nine-dollar... More

Located in the Freshfield's shopping community, this place has a well-stocked bar area, separate from the dining rooms, one of which has a street view. The inner dining room has lower lighting, providing a more elegant, intimate dining experience. Good wine list, including by-the-glass. Began w/some bubbly and moved to red for the entrees. . We chose the Prixe Fixe... More

Most recently visited this month, but have dined there science it's opening. Beautifully designed, service is friendly and knowledgeable. Many servers have been there since it's inception. Duck is superb, crab cakes consistent,,dessert good not overly creative. Wine offerings are appropriate for clientele.

If you avoid one thing at Hege's let it be the crab cake entree. The two little cakes sit amid a plate of anemic grits topped with a scimpy amount of otherwise interesting greens and some monochromatic melted and stringy cheese. Dropped randomly around the cakes are pale little shrimp which seem to be an afterthought. What could have been... More

My family and I had dinner here, and the food was about average, but nothing was outstanding. I had the mussels, the Caesar salad, and the pesto chicken breast and linguine. Again, nothing was bad but nothing really stood out. The prices were a little high for such average food, but it had a nice atmosphere and the service was... More

We feel the prices are a bit higher than we want to pay for the average food. We do think service is good and we have done the buffets several times.

My favorite restaurant in the Charleston (or any!) area. We like to sit at the bar since the atmosphere is more casual and the bartender is very attentive. Fabulous food! Their seafood is prepared just like I like it without a lot of seasonings and sauce. Filet mignon, perfect! Oysters Rockefeller, delicious! We had Valentines Day dinner there this year... More

Booked at the last minute on the last evening of our trip. Make no mistake, it's pricey. Typical entree will run $30-$35, and salads are a la carte. That being said, the food is delicious and service was attentive. A number of Special seafood (local) specialties to choose from. Try the bread pudding for dessert.
