Description: Chef Fred Neuville is excited to embark on his first solo venture. “With Fat Hen, I am striving to create a neighborhood restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and signature French-inspired Southern cuisine,” he says. “Johns Island is a fast-growing area and I believe island residents – along with others from around Charleston – will appreciate what we have to offer.” Fat Hen’s main dishes center around innovative French classics with Low country flourishes, sourced from the finest local produce farmers. Neuville’s tangy-but-tender BBQ Scallops are first marinated in a house-made pomegranate barbecue sauce, bacon wrapped and grilled to perfection. The Braised Chicken features locally raised free-range chicken braised in red wine with rich bacon lardons, pearl onions & mushrooms. Fat Hen’s Short Ribs, a favorite signature dish among family and friends, is braised for hours in a rich veal broth. In addition Fat hen offers catering services.

This was our second visit to fat hen. We used trip advisor to make the reservations. The fried chicken liver apps are perfect. The mains were all very well prepared. Service was fast, friendly and very efficient. We will be back to this little gem.

Visiting from Pennsylvania for the week at folly beach, my brother found this great place on trip advisor and made reservations. We were seating promptly @5:30 as our reservation was for that time. What a treat! Had wanted to experience a real, chef-owned, farm to table restaurant - and the Fat Hen delivered!! My family and I dined here while vacationing this week on Folly Beach. Lemonade served in Mason Jars, my kind of place. A prime example of a quality chef creating a great relationship with local farmers resulting in consistently fresh and high quality meals. We happened upon the Fat Hen when we were returning from a day trip to Savannah. We were hungry, saw all the cars and thought it must be good. It was. Wonderful setting and service! Food was delicious. Local produce. Very very good!a great selection of wonderful meals. Servings are nice. In fact if you ordered appetizers you could split a meal!

We have been here twice now and both times it was excellent. This past time I got the sweet tea brined chicken, it was fantastic, moist and flavorful. The service is excellent, someone always comes around to make sure everything is to your liking. Highly suggest you get there early or make a reservation.
