Description: Chef Fred Neuville is excited to embark on his first solo venture. "With Fat Hen, I am striving to create a neighborhood restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and signature French-inspired Southern cuisine," he says. "Johns Island is a fast-growing area and I believe island residents - along with others from around Charleston - will appreciate what we have to offer." Fat Hen's main dishes center around innovative French classics with Low country flourishes, sourced from the finest local produce farmers. Sunday brunch with friends.. they have traditional egg dishes as well as the lunch options. Staff is very friendly and helpful with menu specials and options. Very cute quaint place with both indoor & outdoor seating. Don't let the full parking lot run you off as once you get inside there is more room than it looks! Food was delicious,... More

This was my first visit to the Fat Hen. I really do like this place and would've given it four stars if the prices were just a little more reasonable. The service was pretty average, too. Having said that, I thought the food was really good. It's not far from where I live, so I look forward to trying it... More

This is a great place for Sunday brunch. Everything was delicious, from the bacon and cheese grits to the house-made sausage, French toast, mimosas, etc. Yum. The service was very good as well. This is a pleasant out-of-the-way spot to dine with friends or family.

The Fat Hen was highly recommended to us by a local. This morning we went for Sunday Brunch. I had an omelet and wife had quiche. Both were better than we could have expected. The service and management here is terrific too. If the restaurant is not family-owned it sure does seem to be.

There were several things on the Brunch menu that caught my eye and everything that we had was very delicious. Nice atmosphere, good service, very busy place, so make a reservation. But, beware the coffee price! Fat Hen may be slightly overpriced all around, but the coffee at brunch was $2.95!! Almost $3 for a cup of coffee??? Coffee? Not... More

While visiting my son we opted for a Thursday night dinner at Fat Hen, which was recommended by one of his friends. It certainly did not disappoint! The atmosphere was relaxed in an old home right off the main road onto John's Island. We started dinner with incredible fried green tomatoes with pimento goat cheese and a pickled veggie relish-... We had a great dinner here, arrived at opening time because we didn't have a reservation. Good thing because they got very busy. I had home-made pasta dish with shrimp and veges-very tastey. The others in my party had salmon with the most amazing squash side dish. The menu isn't large, but has good variety for different tastes. The deserts... More

Pretentious. Decent fried green tomatoes. Crab soup smelled fishy. But we were hungry! It was super busy when we went and a very long wait. We were greeted with a "oh no reservation" look. It's not on the return to list.

Never had a bad experience, food and service always great. If you have a party of more than two you MUST have a reservation. As locals we have found out a couple might slip into the bar quickly otherwise plan on a long wait if you don't have a reservation. If you are coming in from out of town plan... More
