Best wait staff not to mention the food!

Loved everything - especially the mussels and I'm not a seafood lover. Everything was delish. I wish I lived closer.

One of the best eating experiences in the Charleston area! Great diverse menu. The Fat Hen is great for Sunday brunch but it is extremely popular and hard to get in. Without a reservation you will wait for a long time. However they now have a beer garden and they serve some fine local brews. We have never had a... More

The ad says "southern bistro with a French twist". Deception ! I am French and after having dinner at this place, I would definitely remove the second part of the description. However, all is not negative about this restaurant and I'll try to document with facts. We were a party of 4 and had dinner. Pros: - parking lot makes... More

Pros: excellent service attentive & friendly staff best mussels we've ever had wonderful crusty bread Cons: french fries? Really? cole slaw was dry & heavy with bacon & blue cheese. I prefer it with a sweet & sour taste. Disappointing. Very noisy For the price I would have expected something other than pomme frites & coleslaw. The crab cakes were... More

The bartender was super nice and friendly. From reading other reviews I knew to order the mussels for an appetizer. It was delicious. My only gripe would be is that the size of the mussels were tiny. The fried green tomatoes were very good too. I had the crabcakes and they were good (nothing to write home about but better... More

We always come back to the Fat Hen every Kiawah Island vacation. Terrific mussels in aioli sauce. I had a fish over grits that was to die for. Everyone in the party had terrific appetizers and entrees. No room for dessert. Will be going back tomorrow night which is our last in Kiawah Island before we head back to CT.

Our server said the chef loved braising and she was right. The lamb shank was the best I have ever eaten. It was served with sorghum roasted vegetables and truffled grits. The portion was huge. (Luckily, my husband was hungry and helped me finish.) Boasting a cheerful, informative wait staff to help a diner sort through the offerings, this James... More

No matter how good a restaurant, the reputation lives and dies by the staff. Our fabulous experience began with the warm and wonderful Teneia. Talk about making us feel at home with that infectious smile. Started with an Artisan cheese tray and the chicken livers for an appetizer. I could have stopped there. Wow, those chicken livers! Entrees included crab... More

We've heard about the Fat Hen and finally decided to give it a try. We arrived around 5:15 with reservations at 5:30. It looked like seating didn't take place until the 5:30 so we went to a very friendly bar. The restaurant is really comfortable outside and in. Glad we made reservations as the place was packed. They brought bread... More

I went to brunch at Fat Hen with several friends and we all left very happy! We sat at the bar because it was so busy- that was fine by us because it made it easier to get a second Bloody Mary. The bloodies and the food were fabulous. I got veggie hash to die for and both of my... More
