Great local food

Great food and service here at the Long Island Cafe. I ordered one of the specials which was a redfish and it was delicious.

On our first full day of a one month vacation on Isle of Palms, my wife and I had lunch at this restaurant, located in the same shopping strip as a Harris Teeter supermarket. Service was efficient and the place settings were nicer than the average lunch cafe. My wife had a turkey BLT, while I had a pimento grilled... More

We were just arrived in town and hungry. The Long Island Cafe provides excellently prepared food. The seafood and vegetables dishes were well prepared to the proper doneness - not over cooked. They do use some locally sourced ingredients and indicate them on their blackboard over the bar. They have nice wine moderately priced list and full bar, but only... More

I (husband) really like their she crab soup. My index for "right" she crab soup was the old Colony House Restaurant (now gone) in downtown Charleston, S. C. The recipe at Long Island Cafe (LIC) reminds me of it. We hear that the fried seafood is very good at LIC. The LIC is under new ownership and/or management for the... More

I come down to IOP every two months from DC to escape the madness. Long Island Cafe is exactly what I look for in a restaurant when I'm on vacation and looking for a savory, relaxing and delicious night out. Let me preface I'm a restaurant manager in DC and have been for 18 years. I know what makes a... More

This restaurant came highly recommended, so maybe my expectations were too high? Our server was nice but very busy. The portions are huge. The food was good, but not great. The one highlight was the cheese grits. They were very good. If there weren't a ton of amazing restaurants in the area, this would probably be a good choice.

I really wanted to like this place but it was just ok. The portions are large and the service was good but the food was just average.

I would have missed this gem had some of the locals not suggested our group of six ladies on a "girls weekend" try this restaurant. We were skeptical because it is hidden away in a strip mall. BUT, it was fantastic. The food was wonderful as was the service. It was so yummy that we went two nights in a... More

We have been here several times. It never disappoints. The menu for the day always has great specials. The only draw back for some folks visiting is the view/location. I would recommend eating here and maybe drinks/desert or somethign on a waterfront location.

Went for dinner with friends who have eaten here many times. The decor is unremarkable but pleasant. Our dinners included a shrimp appetizer. The crab cake and fillet, lobster dinner special of 3 small tails split, prime rib special, and pan fried flounder fillet. The lobster would have been better if the meat had been removed and placed back in... More
