Reservations needed!

Dye requires reservations. You may think she should take more at a time but she has a small kitchen, one cook, maybe a waitress or just Dye. We went twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kind of in a weird location and decor is very kitschy but interesting. Dye chatted with us both times. She's a hard... read more

Six older adults visiting for the lunch buffet. Excellent food. Opportunity to try a variety of Gullah cooking. Especially appreciated the opportunity to visit with Dye while we ate. Loved the bread pudding. We had made reservations, but it was quiet in an off-season mid week visit. Not street visible. Easy to miss. Good parking.

The best buffet I've ever had. Country cooking at it's finest! I tried everything and everything was delicious. Fried chicken puts KFC to shame. Mac n cheese was my fav, but the sweet potato cornbread was yummy too. Really, everything was!

What the place may miss in ambiance, it makes up in quality soulful food! Miss Dye is always there and is helpful, courteous and honest about her foods. She encourages all to "come back". After having her crab bisque and crab cake sandwich, I just might do that.

Something about this place doesn't sit right. It was mostly empty at dinner time and the food selection and quantity in the buffet was limited. For Gullah food you can do much better than this.

THEN you would think it was like home cooking. Our visit was completely underwhelming and a bit uncomfortable actually. My husband, 10 year old daughter and I showed up about 5 minutes early. we knock, they opened the door, said wait outside and then we could hear the lock clicking shut. so we wait in the mall for maybe another... Small restaurant with a fair amount of space taken up by buffet which is only used for two meals a week. We were there for lunch and ordered from a fairly limited menu, but had the 2 pc. fried chicken with 2 sides and a piece of corn bread for $15. The food was excellent, but a new Popeye's down... The food was absolutely excellent! I thought the atmosphere was a little stale--especially since the website says you have to make reservations.... but the food made up for it. Loved, loved, the Pecan Coconut Pound Cake.

Had Sunday "after church buffet" at Dye's. Just as promised, there was an all you can eat buffet with fried chicken, collard greens, turnip, fish stew, rice, and other things as well as a delicious pound cake with lemon sauce. Best part was that Dye came out and sat telling us stories of her gullah upbringing, how she learned to... More

My wife and I made our first visit to Dye's last night. I was raised in the lowcountry but moved away in 1970. This meal made me feel as if I never left. The sweet potato cornbread was awesome, melting in your mouth. Fried chicken, mac & cheese and collard were my choices. The chicken was crispy and moist and... More
