Dye's is a one-of-a-kind restaurant, so if you looking for an experience you won't have at home, make a reservation and go. It's very small, and Dye herself serves you. Order the incredible hush puppies. I promise you'll want to thank me. I loved the low-country boil, which was a relatively light dish. Others said the fried chicken was delicious.... More

There's no better fried chicken on the planet. Hands down, Dye makes the best. Combine that with fresh veggies and the best cornbread you ever had, plus amazing sweet tea, and you'll be hooked. There are other great things on the menu, including seafood. All prepared from scratch with fresh, local ingredients. Make sure to call ahead for reservations and... More

First time at Dye's. The food was wonderful!!! Best fried chicken and mac & cheese I ever had in a restaurant. My husband could not stop talking about her Fresh butter beans all the way home to Michigan. Such a warm feeling - like visiting your grandmother and she's cooking all your favorite foods.

Ate at Dye's today. Sundays are buffet only. So delicious. The freshness of the food was unsurpassable. Husbands favorite food was the smoked ham gumbo. I loved the butter beans and cabbage salad. Kids thought the chicken, cornbread and sweet potato bread pudding were the bomb. The real gem is Dye though. A wonderful women who has been here her... More

We have been to Dye's several times, and her food never disappoints. Her location has moved since our last visit. It is smaller and did not have as big a variety on the buffet as it did last time. What she did offer was excellent! Her fried chicken is moist with a super thin and crunchy skin. There is a... More

We had a wonderful meal of seafood hush puppies, sweet potato cornbread with cane sugar syrup, wonderful crab cakes, collard greens, candied sweet potatoes, traditional shrimp and grits, and dirty chocolate cake for dessert. The seafood was fresh, sweet, and tender, the collards with just the right mix of tangy and sweet, and grits excellent. Service was personal and careful.... More

When sharing a large beach house with a large family of all ages, I highly recommend letting Dye do all of the cooking for you! Each day, all I had to do was simply pick up our pre-ordered piping-hot meal and serve it family-style in our own home. From fried chicken to low country boil, Dye made our family beach... More

Lady Dye has an amazing team working with her at this small, unexpected Southern kitchen. We made our reservation over the phone a few days before arrival. It was everything we expected and more when we arrived. Absolutely delicious, authentic, home-cooked fixin's. Please go here and meet the staff. Dye has a son in the Air Force and is proud... More

If you're visiting Hilton Head with your family, you must stop at Dye's Gullah for a meal. It might be the only place on the entire island that serve REAL southern food. The fried chicken was amazing. The mac and cheese was terrific. The sweet potatoes and homemade corn bread were among the best you'll ever have. Reservations are required,... More
