This restaurant is a break your general HH eatery. All food is homemade from the cornbread with syrup to the shrimp deviled eggs. Ms. Dye's pork chops are fantastic. Bring cash- she doesn't accept CC. Leave room for the Peach Dump!

Cabbage salad is to "Dye" for. Mac and cheese, chicken, greens...wonderful! Not too many places can make homemade food outside of the home. That is just how you feel with every bite!!

This restaurant is a true find! It's written up with high reviews in the vacation magazines, and I was longing for some home cooking (without having to cook myself). We went for lunch on a Tuesday and Miss Dye offered a warm greeting at the door, seated us and explained the offerings on the menu. Other diners raved about the... More

Simply put- one of the best meals I've had. I had the stuffed flounder with crab & shrimp, speckled butter beans and collard greens. My cousin had crab cakes, and all were delicious. Dye brought out cracklings corn bread, butter and homemade cane sugar syrup. We unintentionally saved half for dessert and it was the perfect way to begin and... More

I called Tuesday afternoon and left message on the answering machine requesting reservations for Weds evening. Website and phone message said they are open on Wednesday evenings. I tried to confirm several times on Wednesday but never received a reply. When we got there it was closed.

Find it and eat here!!!!! Okay - find it - along the main drag rt 278 - in a small shopping center. There is a sign at the entrance but no sign on the building. It's inside the Atrium building on the first floor. Call for reservations to make sure you get in. They can take walk-ins if they have... More

Dye may be a little grumpy but her food is really great. Shrimp and grits, fried chicken, collards and corn bread all top notch! So don't let old Dye scare you away!

The best Southern cooking we've found on HHI. Bourbon pork chops, shrimp & grits, fried chicken, butter beans, collards, and yams - Oh the yams! All of these were exceptional and easily rate 5 stars. If you appreciate authentic southern cooking then you'll find their cooking to be exemplary. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired - rating a 3.... More

This lady really knows how to cook great, authentic home-styled meals. We ate there at lunch and the fried chicken was some of the best I've had!

We were in Hilton Head in January, a slow time for the area. Read and heard about Dye's (note: you have to go inside The Atrium to find the door of this small restaurant). We wanted some authentic low country food and we got it. Only two couples were there this slow day, and we chatted through lunch; the atmosphere... More
