A Lowcountry Backyard

What a surprise. We eat at the bar, because the wait was to long for a outside table. Kim was the bartender. Kim was so friendly. The food was tasty. The drinks were strong. The one-man band sounded good also.

Best biscuit I have ever consumed! Ever! Service was very friendly, food was delicious. Really cool atmosphere. Would have gone again if we'd had the time!

We just finished our first visit, and now can understand why this place is rated so highly! EVERYTHING was delish and perfect! The meatloaf was absolutely out of this world! The omelette special (with mushrooms and spinach) was buttery and delish. I personally had Namcy's fresh tomato sandwich and added pimento cheese and applewood bacon. Absolute heaven! So tasty! What a nice local restaurant. Everything was delicious. I had the fried green tomato sandwich and it was amazing. We ate indoors and we still had a nice time. Next time will plan to eat outdoors. Another little perk is the ability to charge your cell phone while at the restaurant.

I know this place well since my cousin owns it so I know the back story very well. David was the manager of the Salty Dog in Sea Pines for about 15 years and always wanted to have his own restaurant. He and his wife open the Backyard a few years ago with a combination of family recipes and local... More

Enjoyed our experience here. Food was good and atmosphere was intimate. Features both indoor and outdoor seating. Menu was diverse and had that local feel so you knew everything would be good. Recommend you give it a try!

Excellent selection, food is always amazing, service is attentive, the best atmosphere, too! I have actually eaten here twice and the food was very good both times, although the meatloaf was a wee bit greasy the second go around. The cocktails are unique - moonshine! But the atmosphere really adds to the whole experience. Sit outside if you can, that's... More

We have been searching for a good soul food/southern style/gullah restaurant since we got on the island. So we had dinner at this place because of all the good reviews. It's a neat little country restaurant. It feels as if you are eating in a relative's house. However, the food and service were definitely lacking. The guy that sat us... More

Thank you for trying us. I will certainly speak to Mary and our Host about going above and beyond with their hospitality. Anything less than smiling, southern hospitality and ensuring guest satisfaction is not acceptable. Our food is not completely southern style. We are a Lowcountry Restaurant. We definitely will have southern, Gullah and southern influences in our recipes. Many... More

Brought clients here from out of town, and this may have just sold them on HHI! The food was fantastic, atmosphere was great, and the service was tops!! I couldn't have asked for a better place to have lunch! Make you sure you stop by here, whenever you can, it's a great place for family, friends, and business!

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! Bartender Kim was very friendly and attentive. Try the Shrimp BLT Salad and the Dad's Baked Chicken. She makes a mean Dark and Stormy too!
