Went, again, after a delightful visit, last year. Staff was out with the flu, but we were greeted by a friendly partner, who worked us through Chef David being the only one there. Our most friendly and capable waitress arrived and we were kept happy with the special corn bread -- you'll either... read more

Excellent for dinner or lunch from start to finish. Chef David has brought his island cuisine to his own restaurant.

We were great fans of The Sea Shack for years and then followed Chef David to his own restaurant when he opened it. And, the first year it was great. Year two was nice. But Chef David seems to be focusing his attention on his art work and not the cuisine these days. Slow, inaccurate service, cold food not presented... More

A sign read that read closed for the season but it there was a for lease sign in the driveway. I'm sad because it was an excellent Gullah inspired restaurant. Good luck Chef David.

This review ends up 3-star because of an extreme disconnect between the food (delicious, 5-star) and the service (awful, 1-star). First, the food is fantastic. We all enjoyed our meals--once we settled on options that were actually available. That said, the service was dreadful. It took over two-and-a-half hours for food to arrive. We were told by a very apologetic... More

We've tried this place twice, both in the early lunch hour (before rush, an hour after opening), a year apart. On both visits, service was relatively low quality and the kitchen was out of many things (some standard things, some ore completed...a little of everything). I wanted to like this place, but I think the charm ends with the story... More

No body there closed, they are out of business due to a chef that could not handle it though he has a lot of talent, this business is not easy, knowing how to cook is only 25% of owning a restaurant.bon chance, never even got a chance to eat there

We returned to Chef David's this week so our friends could experience the great food. Little did we know what a treat we were going to have with Patty as our server. We were given tales of Hilton Head long past, with such passion and delight. We laughed and sat dumbstruck with some of her stories. We met Chef David... More

You are not going to stumble on this place by accident. A friend who has spent most winters in Hilton Head for the last nine years just discovered it – and what a find. The Chef David of the restaurant’s name is Chef David Vincent Young. Chef David was at Sea Shack until 2008 and opened RoastFish and Cornbread in... More

Entree was very good, loved the wall murals and restaurant ambiance. Wait for food was extremely long and many menu items not available. Though desserts were advertised as home made the key lime pie was terrible. Waitress said the owner/chef was having personal problems and that he hadn't been able to make the desserts. The restaurant does not have a... More
