Not great

I wish i could give a 3.5 for good, but not very good. Liked most of what i had, though everything was fried and/or heavy- bacon/meatloaf sliders, for instance. These were great, actually, but everything else was just good, and heavy. The entire catfish plate with sweet potato fries and some other... read more

A lovely venue with an interior of old wood and brick. The bar is separate from dining area so the low noise level makes it ideal for conversation. Numerous choices of traditional "southern" dishes prepared in unique ways. My only complaint was that the Parmesan Risotto was not as creamy as I had hoped. Great wine choices available. Will go... Sassafras is fantastic! I really enjoyed the Salmon and Lump Blue Crab! The grits were a bit salty for my taste, but overall I loved the pairing. The fried oysters were great. Would definitely love to visit again!

We had 11 I our party and the waiter was outstanding and accommodating. Highly recommend 1/2 price wine Wednesday! The small she crab soup was a large bowl and was delicious with ample crab meat and a touch of liquor as it should be. The pimento cheese filet was a big hit. We will definitely return there.

It is very dark in here if you are going for a group dinner, but the food is really good. The steaks are probably what they do best out of everything I have had on the menu. I have come for dinner or parties. Sometimes the food is a little over-salted, but other times it is amazing.

Tucked away on the plaza off Main Street near the Mast General Store you can find a charming eclectic southern comfort food style restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and appropriately themed. The lighting level was poor at our table so had some difficulty viewing the menu. Our server was very good, attentive, and helpful since she had obviously... More

I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. The food and atmosphere was excellent. The outside seating is nice also on the plaza.

you can sit outside, they have heaters to keep you warm. The shrimp and grits were excellent, the scallops were great. Our service was excellent. Great wine list.

Avoid this place. I was hungry for a nice southern steak so I ordered the Filet Minon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was so spicy the seasoning overran the flavors of everything else. I was ill for two days after eating there and the only thing I looked forward to about Greenville after that was the flight out.

My husband and I had heard about Sassafras from a top 10 review and it deserves the top ten rating. Imaginative twists on traditional southern comfort food. We had the southern fried chicken and the meatloaf topped with crumbled country ham and onions, full of flavor. The side dishes were terrific, as were the hush puppies that come with the... More
