After a day at the mall, my son and I stopped in for an eclectic dinner. Stuffed flounder was excellent and the Roughy special was superb.
Not quite as good as the old days but certainly better than many of the higher priced venues around Greenville. The wait staff is top drawer and friendly and willing to accommodate. The food was very good and we had a large group....the appetizer trays they made up were flavorful and appealing. The prices are reasonable for the portions......worth a... More
The meal was good, but nothing special. I had the beef liver and grilled onions. My wife had a very large salad with grilled chicken. The price was fair and the service was good. The only negatative was the rice pudding that was like soup.
Went in June, 2013 for our daughter's 21st. It's always been our go-to place for special occasions. Well, it used to be. The food was sub-par and the server had tables throughout the entire house. I wrote an email to the owner--something I never do--and he was caustic in his response. There are FAR too many great restaurants in Greenville... More
Stax is a true diner, with all the variety and ambiance that word suggests. The menu is extensive and fairly complete. They even have Greek and Italian dishes if that happens to be your whim today. The staff is friendly, outgoing and comical in keeping with the diner tradition. And like any true diner, Stax has killer desserts that will... More
We have been to Stax Grill a number of times. Why? Because they run hot and cold, and they run BOGO coupons. Sometimes they are really good. Tonight was just bad. Our server forgot to bring bread (until we asked after ~10 minutes), everything was late in coming, and then when it did arrive, it wasn't good. For some reason... More
My wife and I went out to Stax Grill for an Friday evening out. We arrived without reservation, and were promptly seated. Though we got there about 8:00 pm, there were only 5 tables (including us) of patrons in the restaurant. The waiter told us about several seafood and fish specials, but we were there to get a good steak.... More
I've been to Stax on a number of occasions since moving to Greenville. The only reason I return is because its local. Your not going to get a "knock it out of the park" meal. On one Sunday they made us feel really welcome with the server being outstanding. I've never had a bad meal, but I've never had anything... More
This was our first time going to Stax's Grill and will be the last time! The service was horrible, food was cold, and the manager Chris could care less about the quality of service or food they provided after we brought it to his attention.
The service was excellent by our waitress and the meals were very good, but not much food for the prices at dinner. I had the stuffed shrimp (5) and almondine string beans and this was $17.95. The flash fried whole flounder with one side, great mash potatoes, was about $24.00. Very good warm sour dough rolls were singly served. For... More
