Excellent food but lacking in service

We have always had pleasant experiences dining at Bergamo's and the food there continues to be excellent. Our most recent visit, however, was marred by a server who was both arrogant and brusque. Due to a health concern, I don't drink alcohol so I asked for iced tea. The waiter smirked and told... read more

We are regular Italian visitors in Greenville for business. Today we were turned down for being late for our reservation. The resturant was empty. We asked our very rude waiter to talk to Nello, the owner and chef. She point blank refused despite insisting that we knew him personally and have been there repeatedly. Tonight they have lost 5 clients.... More

i am not local (i am Israeli) and i travel to Italy 2-3 times a year for many years, so i judge Italian restaurants by my experience. located in downtown, nicely decorated though a bit too dark for my old eyes. the waiter was ok (no more) and for some reason he tried hardly to convince us to have a... Northern Italian cuisine is simple...the best product, prepared in the best way to showcase the best qualities of the product. This restaurant, which we just found, but was opened 30 years ago, is a perfect example of true Italian cooking. The wine list is comprehensive, the menu well thought out and the service is exceptional...thank you Daniel! The beef carpaccio... More

Located on Main Street in downtown Greenville, Ristorante Bergamo isn't the friendliest of restaurants. Our server seemed annoyed when we didn't rush to order our entree and wanted to have a glass of wine first. From then on he seemed indifferent and annoyed. The food as much as I can recall at this point(only 5 weeks ago) was good but... More

First time visit, and all 5 of us enjoyed our meal. Food, was prepared perfectly, and presentation was well done. Service was attentive and friendly. We would return if back in the area.

this restaurant has very good Italian food and nice location on Main St. The bread is excellent. My friend had the flounder franchaise special which a bit too lemony but still good. I ordered the pappardelle pasta with mushrooms. The sauce was very good, not too heavy. The atmosphere was very nice. My only complaint would be the service. Our... More

On a Tuesday evening in mid May, Greenville was full of people. All the restaurants in town seemed to be packed, as we walked Main St at about 7.30 - except Bergamo. That does not imply a criticism: the place has a quiet style, that may not have an obvious appeal. I don't think I would describe it as romantic,... More

Great Italian food, good wine list. Dinner and dessert were out of the world. Large portions, very good and fast service

The atmosphere is the restaurant is very sophisticated, and of a quiet appreciative crowd. It is very unassuming during the day, when the blinds are pulled down, but would say it has a very romantic feel about it in the evening. We had the liver and a pasta dish, which was excellent. you can tell by the food that this... More
