We loved the write up on this place and so looked forward to its speciality Tomato Pie only to find it had gone out of business. What more can we say?

Sorry to report Main's Market was closed during our May, 2013 visit to Edisto. Local newsletters report the market lost its lease and might relocate in the future. Hopefully Main's will reopen as the home style meals were some of our favorites on the island.

It is definitely worth the stop for a "piece" of Tomato Pie...do not get one and think you wiill share it !!! The rest of the food looked delicious as well. When coming to Edisto Beach, don't stock up on food that needs eating before you leave cuz the restaurants here are better than anything you could cook yourself. Prices... More

This place is well worth the visit. The ambience is great and the staff is very helpful. Its outdated but once you taste the wonderful food,nothing else matters. The tomato pie is to die for. They wouldn't give me the recipe!!!!

We went for lunch and the buffet. The food is good old fashioned home cooked Southern food. Okra gumbo, red rice, tomato pie, squash casserole, as well as fried chicken and other meat is available.

I had the shrimp salad wrap which was yummy, but also had a side of squash casserole and it tasted to overcooked and mushy--definitely not made that day, or the day before. I'm a Southern girl and I know my Southern food. Add a little more freshness to this place and it'd be worth a try, but can't really recommend... More

Ate here with a friend during a week's stay on Edisto. I had heard many good things about Main's and maybe I was expecting too much. Good Gullah home cooking. If you find the surroundings too primitive, just order take out and eat it at home. You shouldn't miss the food just because the place looks bad. Don't miss the tomato pie.

An Edisto "mainstay", this is delicious Southern and Gullah-style cooking, fresh and astonishing. Yes, even from the steam table for lunch! Walked in not knowing what to expect. There was a serving area with about 6 different veggie choices on it. I selected the gumbo, corn pie, potato pie, and tomato pie.
