Take a ride out to McConkey's Jungle Shack on Edisto. It's worth it!

McConkey's local seafood is excellent, the shrimp succulent, with a wonderful tasty batter, yes it's fried, but work the indulgent (you may request the shrimp grilled if you wish). Stopped in to have some beers and apps one afternoon. The chicken nachos and fried pickles are awesome. The Red Sangria is good, as well. Like many places on the island, they do not serve liquor, only beer and wine. We went back to try their fish tacos. They were good but A little bland. Very eclectic, beach atmosphere. Recommend... If I could give McConkey's a 3 1/2, I would. It's good for what it is, just nothing special. I ate a burger and it was good. Wasn't in the mood for fried seafood--my wife and daughter had some and said it was OK. I wouldn't oppose going back, but I can't imagine it ever being my first choice.

The service was fantastic the atmosphere was great and the prices fair. I loved the choice of indoor or outdoor seating the beach decor also added to the beach atmosphere. The only thing that I didn't care for was the restroom situation yes they had one but it was through the kitchen but that won't keep me from coming back.

If you are looking for a great beach burger with some awesome onion rings this is your place. Bring it. Bring your wallet too, good food is not cheap, but this is definitely worth it. Price is reasonable for a small seasonal beach community. I have eaten here many times and plan to return this summer.

Stopped in for a quick lunch today. My husband and I loved it. I had the Edisto Cuban Sandwich. Delicious!! Love the flavor of the bar-b-que sauce. French fries were also very good. My husband had theTurkey Wrap and French fries. He said it was good. Staff was nice. Place was busy. We will definitely go back. Thanks for a... More

Okay, first of all, we've eaten here dozens of times over that past decade--summer and fall...and we keep coming back. McConkey's offers hearty family fare, with large servings and reasonable prices. Service is friendly. Atmosphere is busy, seating is crowded, noise level is high, and the menu never changes. None of these are necessarily bad things! Located next to the... More

We LOVE McConkeys ! First place that we hit when we come to the island and we usually go there at least 2 times during our vacation week. We can't say enough how excellent the food is - everything you want a beach vacation meal to be and the service is always the best . Everyone does fried pickles but... More

We have tried the shrimp in every establishment (all five of them!) on the island, and The Jungle Shack does the best job. Big, lightly coated, tender, juicy... just right!
