Under rated, excellent

Four us had mahi mahi, flounder, shrimp and bucket oysters. All very tasty, fresh fish, service very fine, French fries ok with old fashioned, atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

We go to Whaley's everytime we are in Edisto. The food is always great! They are one of the few places I have been to that know how to fry seafood perfectly. The fried shrimp and flounder are outstanding! The staff alwayes does a solid job and the beer is very cold!! You can never get the true feel of... More

This was our second time to visit Whaley's. A few years ago we were there for lunchtime and were so impressed we wanted to revisit this trip. Quaint. Unique. Original. That's how I'd describe this place. Quaint as it has casual charm and a friendly down-home feel and seemed to be a gathering place for locals as well as visitors;... More

A dive in all the best ways. An old service station which was converted to a bar which serves food. A great local bar vib with great food. Try the fish. I had a good (not great ) piece of tilapia fried in a very light batter and a world class crab cake. The grits were creamy and a delightful... More

Like some of the other reviewers said, from the outside Whaleys looks like a bit of a dive but the crabcakes and coleslaw were the best I have tasted in a long time - full of crab and no fillers! My husband really enjoyed his flounder sandwich, when we stopped for lunch. On Thanksgiving Day we were very pleasantly surprised... More

Slow service since it was very busy Wednesday night beforeThanksgiving. Nice sized portioned burgers and pork chop sandwich for my kids, others enjoyed shrimp and scallops. Got a steamed oyster bucket w/corn & sausage. Only got one small piece of lukewarm corn and one small piece of sausage. Oysters were flavorful but barely cooked. Somewhat pricey for the food served.

If not for several locals recommending Whaley's we would not have stopped. From the outside, it looks a bit run down. On the inside, it's very nice, friendly and full of local color. We had the shrimp filled BLT, Crab Cake sandwich and Key Lime Pie. All were very good. We might even go back for dinner one night. Definitely... More

Ive been eating at Whaley's for a long time. We own a house on the beach so I guess I can be called a regular. The range of reviews on this establishment--from excellent to awful--is a little unusual for Trip Advisor but after reading many of them think they are all accurate. First, Whaley's gets crowded during the summer and... More

Joey was my favorite, but George has all the news new and old. The food is always consistent. The locals around the bar tolerant and knowledgable.

We ate at Whaley's twice while we at Edisto and I enjoyed both meals. I had the prime rib sandwich on one night and it was very tender and good. The other meal was their dinner salad and I added a crab cake on top. It was by far one of the best crab cakes ever. Lots of lump crab... More
