Wife was disappointed.

We have frequented the "Old Post Office" for over twenty years excepting when it was closed several years ago. The new owners have tried to restore the flavor of the original and for the most part they have. My dinner, spinach and portobello ravioli, was exceptional. I have not been here in 20 years but the food does not disappoint! Personally, I like the steaks over the fried foods but everyone enjoyed their meals. The dining area is more open then I remember from years ago. We had the salmon, pimento cheese, and duck wing to start. We had a wide range of entrees and key... More

It was pricy and it was loud. The shrimp, scallops, and grits I had were to die for, and my wife said the same about her Firecracker Flounder. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think, though, and it cost us $40+ a head.

Bill B, Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for joining us on a busy night! So pleased to read that both of you enjoyed the Soup, Firecracker Flounder, Shrimp and Scallops, Wine and Dessert. Sorry to read that the private party that was in attendance was to loud for your liking. I hope this does... More

Decor and atmosphere was good for a small restaurant with a full crowd for a Saturday night. Located out of Edisto Beach, easy to find. Shrimp, scallops, and green beans were excellent. The Salmon was okay, nothing unique to make it stand out. The other two individuals said their seafood was good, but not outstanding. She complained about the soft... More

Delmar M Thanks for your review and business on a busy Valentine's Day evening. Pleased to read that you enjoyed your meal and the atmosphere, but puzzled about our smoked salmon you speak of since it was not presented on your bill! In regard to your service understand that 110 people passed through our door that evening and as such... More

Our party of seven generally enjoyed the side dishes (you don't get a choice on these, they serve a house salad, grits and vegetable of the day). Those who ordered steak thought it was excellent, while we had mixed reviews of the seafood. The prices were a little higher than most places on Edisto.

We always enjoy going to The Old Post Office. It is a favorite restaurant on the island. The food is always delicious. The smoked salmon is our favorite appetizer to share. They smoke the salmon there and it is excellent. The wait staff is always attentive and professional. The owners, Adam and Toni care about their customers and their dining... More

I had the shrimp and scallops with grits. Shrimp was very good. Scallops were softer than I expected. Grits were tasty but consistency was thin. Peggy had crab cakes and grits. She said the cakes were very good. The squash we had as a side was good. We shared a nice pice of Key Lime pie for dessert.

From the wait staff, to the selections, to the food itself, you won't even remember that you happen to be steps from an 18th century stretch of the King's Road - still just dirt - and that the island community hosting you has a year-round population of something less than a smallish high school's student tally.

After reading TA reviews and driving around Edisto we chose the Old Post Office for our dinner. It was a small restaurant and very simply furnished in an old post office building.
