Dinner at the beach

Took the family and had a wonderful meal. Everyone had some kind of steak - all delicious. Generous portions. Awesome cheese grits and desserts. Most expensive place on the island but a nice treat. A nice tradition.

The Old Post Office is amazing for a more romantic setting on Edisto. They have a wonderful menu. Most of the table got one of the many specials and we're not disappointed! Reservations are recommended as this place can get busy in season!

A very nice salad, awesome shrimp and a chocolate pecan fudge pie to die for! The fish and scallops were disappointing making the whole meal not worth the price.

Kevin W Thanks for driving down from Charleston! Happy to read that you enjoyed the salad, awesome shrimp and a chocolate pecan fudge pie. Surprised that the Seafood Trio did not satisfy you as it is a popular item on our specials menu. Should you ever visit again I'd suggest not splitting an entree but rather ordering an entire entree... More

I dine hear occasionally when friends visit me in the island and I've never been disappointed. We started with the smoked salmon. Not to be confused with what you see in the supermarket, this is a pice of fresh salmon that has been smoked and it was perfectly prepared. We each ordered one of the daily specials and we were... I'm a trip advisor review junkie so I kinda knew what to expect. My wife and I were in Edisto to celebrate her birthday for the weekend. Some friends of ours told us to make sure we ate at the Old Post Office. We didn't have reservations but were seated quickly anyway. Started looking at the menu after we ordered... More

While staying on Edisto Island we wanted to experience a local restaurant, and after driving by the Old Post Office we added that to our list of places to try. We were delayed in Charleston due to an accident that blocked one of the main roads so we called to move our reservations. Surprisingly they gave us some attitude about... More

Suzie H Not familiar with any attitude about changing a reservation or fuss....In fact we appreciate a phone call to let us know about any change! We thank you for your business, taking notice of the fresh local ingredients used in preparing all or entree's, willingness to accommodate customer allergies, attentive servers and gourmet flavor of the food. Again thank... More

The salad came out and was great! I ordered the filet... This was one of about 8 options in the menu. On the menu it stated it could only be cooked rare or medium rare. I chose medium rare. It came out well done. I did not like the topping on the steak- goat cheese and something else. The grits... More

Ashleyjdixon As a teacher I have a few lessons to share! 1) As my grandmother always said..."If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all" 2) Ask to speak with an owner or manager if you're not happy with a meal you're paying for 3) Inquire about a dish that you aren't familar with.....the goat cheese and... Nothing really "bad" here; some things were actually pretty good (the salad, the scallops and shrimp) but nothing was exceptional or excellent--something I expect when paying those kinds of prices. They are "famous" for their shrimp and grits so I went with that. The seafood was fresh and well cooked but the grits had no grit (I guess I like... More

VAsokrmom Just my opinion but I guess this VA soccer mom gets board during the off season! Our prices are more than competitive....much like soccer in fact. Thanks for the "famous" statement but I'd say more like "popular" and from the extreme close up picture that's posted I'd say more like Shrimp and Scallop Grits (broiled never pan seard) .... More

It was the night before we were going back home. A tour guide in Beaufort recomended the restaurant. I ordered the Carolina ribeye. It was excellent! It had a moussealine sauce. It came with beans and grits. I am not a fan of grits, but I loved these. I ate every bite of them. My husband ordered scallops and shrimp.... More

We have been coming to Edisto for vacation most years since 2000. We discovered the Old Post Office when we first came here and we've been eating there every trip we could.
