Our party of seven generally enjoyed the side dishes (you don't get a choice on these, they serve a house salad, grits and vegetable of the day). Those who ordered steak thought it was excellent, while we had mixed reviews of the seafood. The prices were a little higher than most places on Edisto.

We always enjoy going to The Old Post Office. It is a favorite restaurant on the island. The food is always delicious. The smoked salmon is our favorite appetizer to share. They smoke the salmon there and it is excellent. The wait staff is always attentive and professional. The owners, Adam and Toni care about their customers and their dining... More

I had the shrimp and scallops with grits. Shrimp was very good. Scallops were softer than I expected. Grits were tasty but consistency was thin. Peggy had crab cakes and grits. She said the cakes were very good. The squash we had as a side was good. We shared a nice pice of Key Lime pie for dessert.

From the wait staff, to the selections, to the food itself, you won't even remember that you happen to be steps from an 18th century stretch of the King's Road - still just dirt - and that the island community hosting you has a year-round population of something less than a smallish high school's student tally.

After reading TA reviews and driving around Edisto we chose the Old Post Office for our dinner. It was a small restaurant and very simply furnished in an old post office building. We were there soon after they opened and were seated promptly. The servers were very attentive. The menu is pretty much set - salad, bread, and veggie are... More

When I made the reservation, I told them that it was my husband's birthday. They said that it he ordered a dessert, they would put a candle on it. He ordered a dessert, but they did nothing. All of our dirty dishes were not collected. We had to move our bread dishes and dirty silverware out of the way when... More

Place was semi busy on this Saturday at 6:30PM. The Edisto Veal was good with sweet shrimp topping and tasty grits. The sourdough bread was good but needed something besides butter. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The store is charming and a credit to the area.

The OPO is hands down the best restaurant on Edisto! Always consistent with great food and excellent service. Our favorite eatery on the island. Go with the crab cakes or shrimp & grits - outstanding! Pleasant atmosphere. You won't go wrong here.
