Mr. Friendly's is a cozy, comfortable bistro near USC in Columbia's 5 Points. The place is popular and small. On weekends, get there by 6 to avoid a wait. If you're not familiar with Columbia (for instance out-of-town football fans!) it's tucked into a little strip next to The Inn at Claussen's. Mr. Friendly's won Best Restaurant in Free Times... More

This was my first time eating at Mr. Friendly's ,and it won't be my last. I tried their Smoked turkey baguette. It was piled high with turkey and the bread was fresh. Service was good as well even though there was a busy lunch crowd. Plan on trying their dinner menu. U

Friday lunch and the restaurant was quite busy. Tried a few different appetizers and small plates and they were all good: Fried Oyster special, Caesar salad, crab/ tomato soup and fried green tomatoes. For the main course, the burgers really stood out - just outstanding in every way: Juicy and well cooked. Service was pretty good for a busy lunch.

Currently sitting in Mr Friendly's (2nd visit). The vibe is new wave Southern meets Country chic (none of which is good or bad). Table service was very good and attentive! I asked for a cocktail that contained Ginger Beer and simple syrup. The drink was waaaay to sweet....no big at all. Mr. Bartender comes over with quite the attitude when... More

Nice spot for a date night or dinner with friends. Interesting food that is very tasty. Definitely on the pricy side. They also do not take reservations, so unless you want to spend time and money at the bar waiting, come early on a week night.

My personal favorite of Columbia's restaurants for appetizing delights with a Southern flare. Fantastic wine list. Don't miss out on the Pimento Cheese Filet Steak but there are no bad choices on the menu. No reservations taken but the wait times are not typically very long. Very nice place for a relaxing time with friends or family and a great... More

This restaurant is a little hard to find but what a treat you are in for when you do!! They locally source their ingredients and take passion in what they prepare and put out. We tried the fried green tomatoes, buffalo flank steak, and fried chicken. My children loved the menu an said "amazing" about the food. The have valet... More

The facility is tightly spaced for seating, but the food more than makes up for it. The sugared pork chop was very nice, and the shrimp and grits with a creole sauce was an excellent marriage of flavors. I will return. The wine list was impressive, but a few more by-the-glass selections would be an enhancement. The chardonnays were average.... More

We have eaten at Mr. Friendly's several times and have always had a good meal but it is forgettable. We usually end up here with a "oh ya forgot about this place" type of deal. Probably because it is tucked away off the Main Street. But again the food is good so not real sure why it doesn't stick with... More

My sister lives in Columbia and likes this place. She took me there, and I was impressed with the food. I'm a big fan of Southern cooking, so it was right up my alley. Atmosphere is casual--not a dive, but not too fancy.
