We just ate at Melvin's Legendary Bar BQ for the first time and it was marvelous. Had some of the ribs, brisket and pork and it was all fantastic. Sides were also excellent. I can't say enough good things about this menu. We are from Florida and have eaten Bar BQ all over the south and this is some of... More

The BBq was really good. The prices have gone up however. There are other BBq places that have just as good of food. There is nothing special about this place.

Our first time here, and glad we didn't missed it while we were on our recent vacation here at Charleston. Awesome ribs, and friendly environmental. Highly recommended and will definitley visit again.

I expected the pork to be good. My husband had the Big Joe and I had the ribs. Both were delicious. I ordered the ribs dry; the rub on them was excellent. They were so good I didn't add any sauce. But the onion rings were the best surprise. They were huge, and fried in what I'm guessing is a... More

We visited Melvin's for the first time this week while in Charleston. We have eaten many times at a competing BBQ place, but now that we've been to Melvin's I am sure we will return here in the future. Their restaurant on James Island is clean, friendly, decorated without being overdone and efficient. We orderded a bulk order to go... More

I am a long time BBQ lover, so I feel somewhat qualified to review a BBQ joint. I was raised on KC style BBQ, but my first two visits to Melvin's BBQ and his mustard-based sauces might have changed me forever. I highly, highly recommend Melvin's BBQ and especially their pulled pork. The pulled chicken is stellar. It's so good... More

Melvin's is a great fast-food restaurant with something for everyone. My family has never been disappointed by anything on the menu. We vacation every year in Charleston and our trip to Melvin's is a much anticipated event each time. It's great for families, couples, whatever... Just don't go on a Sunday. They walk the talk and are closed so their... More

Excellent pork bbq. But when I ordered, there was no more coleslaw. A friend ordered a banana milkshake, only to find out 20 minutes later they ran out of bananas. There was no more brisket to order. And the diet coke was also gone.

Pulled chicken was awesome. I love the sauce that comes on it and it pairs great with a side of baked beans.

We decided to try some southern BBQ and we were so pleased! The food was wonderful. We all ordered a variety and shared! Everything was so great! The ribs, the pulled pork, the cole slaw, the sweet potatoes all awesome!
