La Fontana offers excellent, authentic Italian cuisine. Friendly, thoughtful service in an informal setting. Clearly a favorite in the neighborhood but worth a short drive for visitors to Charleston as well.

My wife and I enjoyed a great meal with a great atmosphere. Our waiter Jonathan made us feel right at home and we will definitely eat here again on our next trip to Charleston.

Friends who visited Charleston recently recommended La Fontana. We didn't know (nor did our friends when we told them of our bad experience) that there are two La Fontanas in the Charleston area. By sheer bad luck we ended up at the wrong one, on Northwoods Blvd. We arrived at about 6:30 for dinner and noticed only one table occupied... More

My wife and I were in west Ashley area so we decided to try La Fontana , had seen on TV and sounded good. First the ac wasn't working good, granted it was about 100deg outside. Service was quick and timely, but the food was lacking. I had veal that was very tough and rubbery, favor was ok. My wife's chicken was... More

I'm not sure why they received any bad reviews, this place is incredible. Upon arriving we were promptly greeted and seated. Since we had a party of 13 we tried many different items on the menu. Pizza, lasagna, Alfredo….my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Huge portions at reasonable prices. Bonus points for the talented piano player.

Wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. Saw they offered $5.00 lunch specials. We shared a sausage sandwich and a chicken sandwich off of the lunch menu. Surprisingly, my wife liked the sausage sandwich over the chicken! Not overwhelming portions. Served with a side of potato chips dusted with parmesan cheese...? We were out running errands, so no... First and last time visit to this restaurant. Poor service...complete lack of attention. Owner and staff were more interested in a large party than our small group. Food was lackluster!

Calamari was very rubbery, we were very disappointed. Meals are decent portions but pricey without at least a dinner salad. My lasagna was ok, but noodles were soft and sauce had an odd taste. My husband like his meal of sausage and Angel hair pasta, but again no dinner salad or side. The waiter was excellent and it has a... More

A group of us picked this spot for our weekly Happy Hour. I myself (because I cannot speak for the others in the group) had a fantastic meal of pan fried chicken parmesan. The sauce was my favorite. The bartenders were from Italy and both of them waited on us with such class! They took care of us like we... More
