Description: Established in 2002, and housed in what was originally an indigo warehouse, this Charleston fish house redefines "fresh" from the menu to the decor. COAST features 40-ft ceilings, rustic tin roofs, and paintings from around the world, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an eclectic beach bar. Enjoy a Peach Blanco Sangria outside on the patio, or a delicious bottle of wine in the spacious bar lined with preserved palm trees. COAST's chefs meet daily with local farmers and fishermen to procure the freshest seafood and produce in the Lowcountry. At the heart of the restaurant is the hickory and oak custom made wood burning grill, a feature you will only find at COAST. The menu incorporates Charleston Classics with our chefs' unique creations. Local favorites include the selection of wood-grilled fresh fish, Seared Rare Tuna, Fish Tacos and the full raw bar. Additional original plates are offered nightly to take full advantage of our city's bountiful local ingredients. A great deal of time and attention goes into compiling a wine selection to match the flavor of our wines to the dynamics of COAST's dishes. The wine list features organic and biodynamic producers. COAST makes every effort to support up-and-coming global wine makers, while simultaneously finding only the highest quality products!

I have never been so happy with every single plate served to us. I tried little of everyone's in my 4 person party and loved them all. Delicious seafood and sides. I even loved the vegetarian plate. Get the fried green tomato appetizer for sure.

We enjoyed our meal. At least in the summer there always seems to be a line, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and friendliness of staff. I had the fried shrimp and oysters and my wife had shrimp and grits with both worth ordering. The crab dip appetizer was also very nice.

Best fried flounder. Kitchen has expeditor who keeps keen eye on plates before they go out. No plate kept waiting there. Reservation recommended.

This restaurant is just off John street in an alley that is a high traffic area for Charleston night-life and has multiple eateries near. The visitors center across the street offers easy parking. But the food seafood that is well prepare fresh and moderately priced. Yellowfin tuna and grouper were hits in my party. Housed in and old indigo warehouse... More

This is a suprisingly large restaurant tucked back in an alley at the north end of the historic district, right next to the Hampton Inn. We had many recommendations from locals - that is why we tried it. Reasonable prices, great atmosphere. We enjoyed ceviche four ways, really good paella, shrimp and grits, excellent fresh fish. We went twice in... More

After sailing, our captain recommended this restaurant. Loved that they took reservations since we would be arriving around 7 PM. The atmosphere is special but the food is average. I felt like it was more of a tourist attraction. The bread, crab dip, mash potatoes and vegetables were OK, nothing special at all. We had the $26.95 grouper grilled which... More

As someone who grew up in Maryland, I am fairly picky about seafood restaurants. Most times, if I can, I would rather buy fresh seafood and prepare it myself. However, when we travel to Charleston to visit our families, we always have dinner with my wife's brother and wife at the Coast. The menu is so packed with various seafood... More

We had seafood loving and NON-LOVERS in our group. Asked at the hotel for a close restaurant with a good mix of foods. They recommended Coast. Be advised, it is seafood unless you want a $30 ribeye or a 24$ blackened chicken breast. The ribeyes were good and they let our son substitute french fries for his okra. The she... More

The food was ok but nothing over the top! Drinks on partially full. Crab cakes were a little mushy. Lots of people eating but not impressive. Mary G

This is a really neat nautical themed casual and trendy restaurant. The raw bar was superb and the fish selection was excellently prepared.the service was good as well. The seafood here is about as good as any place I have been.this is a really fun place to go with a group large or small.
