Established in 2002, and housed in what was originally an indigo warehouse, this Charleston fish house redefines "fresh" from the menu to the decor. COAST features 40-ft ceilings, rustic tin roofs, and paintings from around the world, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an eclectic beach bar. Enjoy a Peach Blanco Sangria outside on the patio, or a delicious bottle of wine in the spacious bar lined with preserved palm trees. COAST's chefs meet daily with local farmers and fishermen to procure the freshest seafood and produce in the Lowcountry. At the heart of the restaurant is the hickory and oak custom made wood burning grill, a feature you will only find at COAST. The menu incorporates Charleston Classics with our chefs' unique creations. Local favorites include the selection of wood-grilled fresh fish, Seared Rare Tuna, Fish Tacos and the full raw bar. Additional original plates are offered nightly to take full advantage of our city's bountiful local ingredients. A great deal of time and attention goes into compiling a wine selection to match the flavor of our wines to the dynamics of COAST's dishes. The wine list features organic and biodynamic producers. COAST makes every effort to support up-and-coming global wine makers, while simultaneously finding only the highest quality products!

Best seafood ever

We piped in without a reservation and the hostess sat us within 5 minutes. Ben our waiter was friendly and in the ball. He defiantly knows how to make you at home so ask for him. The menu is moderately prices so you can't go wrong with any thing you order. Tasty and filling.

Our family ate here recently while vacationing in the area. The atmosphere is fun and located in a charming alley with other establishments. Our waiter was not friendly or particularly helpful with our questions or in making suggestions. We all ordered a variety of entrees and none were bad, but none were anything special either. Charleston is full of great... More

We chose this restaurant one night because it was very near our hotel and we had noted other couples coming and going from it's charming entrance in a small alley of restaurants. It is located in what was an indigo warehouse and has been beautifully restored and enhanced. The atmosphere was so special that we were fairly certain dinner would... More

Just across the street from the Visitors Center there is a little alleyway with several good restaurants (are there any other kind in Charleston) and this is worth exploring. The specialty is seafood and the flounder was very well prepared. It is a casual atmosphere but it is loud. There was live entertainment just off the bar area but the... More

Very lively place. We ate in the bar area instead of waiting for the dining room, Saturday night crowd. The staff were busy but friendly. Our waiter, Ben was efficient and pleasant. The oysters were heavenly! Drinks arrived quickly even though the bar was very busy. The alley where the restaurant is located is really very picturesque. Prices reasonable.

We arrived at our Hampton Inn late in the day and asked the front desk for a close seafood restaurant and they recommended Coast. It was down an alley with several other interesting looking restaurants and only a few minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant is attractive with exposed brick and several levels. We both enjoyed our meals and... More

My husband and I ate here based on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel. We were not disappointed! The restaurant is down a little alley, but easy to find. Really nice atmosphere, great bar staff and live music. We sat "outside" on the front patio. It's open, but not really outside. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops.... More

Really enjoyed my herb crusted grouper meal. The vegetables were cooked just right and the fish was incredible (fresh and very tasty). The portions were generous and our waiter was great and attentive, helping us to pair our entrees with some great drinks. If you are looking for fantastic meal at a good price in Charleston, then I don't think... More

My wife and I have been coming regularly to Charleston over the past 10 years since moving to South Carolina, have eaten at 39 Rue de Jean (one of our favorite Charleston restaurants) several times and I only found out about Coast recently when a work colleague recommended it to me. We were not disappointed with the food, service and... More
