My husband, a friend, and I had dinner at High Cotton in October. The food and service were both very good. We started with some Caprese. The tomatoes were ripe (Unripened tomatoes are a pet peeve of mine.) and the Caprese was tasty. For dinner, my husband had the Rack of Lamb; I had the Pan Roasted Gruper; and our... More

We met friends at High Cotton for dinner!! We were not disappointed. The scallops were delish. The rack of lamb was excellent! Very good selection of wines by the glass. High Cotton is also a great venue to people watch!!

Just had a special seafood dinner, wine pairing celebrating sustainable seafood there. Chef Kelley was imaginative with each course that was required to include local seafood harvested in a sustainable way. The menu included clams, shrimp, crab, flounder and oysters. Wines were supplied by Ben Arnold and was one of the highlights of the evening. I found the food beautifully... More

We decided to have dinner early on our last night in Charleston since our flight the next morning was early. High Cotton has happy hour from 4:00-7:00 daily with 1/2 price burgers (fabulous) and $5.00 wine. I think this is only available in the bar area but that's where you want to be to hear the (live) music. You can't... More

On the advice of some guests at the hotel where we stayed we decided to give High Cotton a try for lunch. We were told that we would probably need reservations but we were walking in the neighborhood and though we would stop in. Excellent choice. We must have arrived at the right time because there were only a few... More

Had a great large booth graduated up on steps to get a great view of the restaurant and street crowd. Food exceptional and service to match. Atmosphere very lively and a party atmosphere. Fun, great place to have a grand evening.

We had reservations for Sunday brunch. (Definitely recommend a reservation.) The service was attentive, the food was absolutely delicious, and they had a great live band that sounded a bit like New Orleans jazz adding to the southern atmosphere, tasty food, and lively dining rooms. An all around amazing experience!

The blue fin tuna was the best I have ever had. Sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Everyone in our group gave it a great review.

High Cotton has been one of our favorites for years, but on a recent visit on a "not full" weeknight we waited for almost an hour between the (unprofessional) clearing of our appetizer dishes and the appearance of our (not complicated) entrees. It appeared that we were forgotten by our waiter and by the kitchen. Upon inquiry, our waiter said,... More

The Term High Cotton comes from the southern plantations cotton growers and means the cotton crop is high and times are good. The restaurant is an excellent choice when you are in Charleston. The food the service, ambiance are what you expect from a high end restaurant. For starters the sea food cocktail was very good and the Gumbo is... More
