During a recent work trip, I decided to seek out some of the highest-praised shrimp & grits in Charleston, South Carolina. Over my 9-day rampage across Charleston, I experienced 11 of the best shrimp & grits restaurants in the area. High Cotton sits across the street from its sister restaurant, Slightly North of Broad. With a pleasant 3-piece jazz band... More

The service was really excellent and helpful, and the food was good enough, but this felt somehow not special in the midst of the rest of the great restaurants in Charleston.

Food was prepared perfectly and service was top notch. Attentive, but not rushed, willing to customize both meals and cocktails. Relaxing, comfortable atmosphere.

A friend of ours who resides in Charleston recommended High Cotton to us while we visited the city. We reserved a table for Sunday brunch and it was....lovely. The atmosphere was great, families dressed in their Sunday best, some casual, some to the hilt. Jazz music played by a quartet and wonderful cocktails. The food was delicious and the service... We really enjoyed our dinner at High Cotton. The restaurant is smart but has a relaxed atmosphere and is not at all stuffy. The dishes we ate were very good including the raw tuna starter, and lamb and venison mains. The bread was particularly good. The service was good but just a few observations. 1. We confirmed our reservation the... More

I was in town for a business function and they had a reception earlier in the evening. We as a group of 6 went to High Cotton after the event. My review might be tempered as I had eaten and drank a bit before arriving so my hunger was not as strong as it might have been. I worked through... More

A friend recommended we eat here and we would also recommend it if you are in town. The restaurant has a classy look to it and while it was busy, the staff did a great job of making you feel comfortable. The steaks were outstanding and and others that had the pork and lamb were raving about their food. This... More

Chose this bar having read reviews on Tripadvisor, brilliant choice. Met some lovely people that made us very welcome. Good service, nice clean bar and really good music. We didn't eat but that wasn't a problem.
