My wife and I ordered just entrees -- no drinks or appetizers -- and the bill came to over $50. We only ate there because we had a gift certificate, but we really enjoyed it. Great food, but not for people on a budget. more

I am a local that recommends this restaurant often. Recently, I've had people disagree, so I went yesterday to make sure I want to continue with the rec. I do. We went for brunch with no reservation. We were seated right way. One of my companions is vegan, the other mother of a one year old. We were immediately greeted... more

Beautifully appointed bar and dining room. Bar features live jazz most evenings. Creative menu highlights low country cuisine. We were seated at a table for two near a large group and the room was quite noisy which detracted from the overall experience. Excellent food and service. more

We recently ate a High Cotton while on vacation. We were underwhelmed by the experience. This restaurant changes its menu every few weeks or so. Maybe the next menu will be better. It has a heavy game influence such as quail, rabbit, venison, and duck. The wine menu is extensive, but there were more choices for Chardonnay than entrees. Being... more

My wife and I ate here the first night we were in Charleston. The food was really good and had a great atmosphere. The location is great, next to art galleries, bars, and other entertaining places. The staff knew the menu well and was very helpful when picking particular sauces with each meal. Can't wait to try the one in... more

My wife and I were lucky to secure an 8pm reservation on Saturday night for one of Charleston's best restaurants. We lucked out and got a table by the window in the smaller dining room and were able to watch the foot traffic as we ate. We ordered the crab cake appetizer which was probably the best crab cake we've... more

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at High Cotton and could not have enjoyed it more. Our waitress was beyond outstanding and the food was fantastic. The prices are a bit high but nothing out of line to others in its class. My only slightly negative comment would be the apparent lack of a dress code. I did not expect... more

I"ve had brunch here before (local) and had low expectations and they were met. Our entrees were great and should have been for as long as they took. She crab soup was horrible and obviously old. Our waitress was new (she told us several times) and it showed! No bread ever came to the table we asked for it THREE... more
