Always A++ from year to year.

This is, by far, the best place in Charleston to eat. I believe this is where Food Network found Tyler Florence and his cuisine fits here. The fried green tomatoes over grits with tomato chutney? Good...busy and crowded. We prefer sitting in the front main dining room. Might be good to ask about preparations. Shrimp gumbo was battered fried shrimp with the heads and tails still on, not what this tourist expected.

My second time to Charleston & my second time to Magnolias. Nice bar, decent wine-not overpriced. Great bouillabaisse, crab cakes & shrimp & grits. Definitely would go back.

We had our anniversary lunch at Magnolias and we could not have been more pleased. The setting was comfortable elegance without being stuffy or ostentatious - diners were wearing everything from tea dresses and seersucker suits to dress shorts and tees! We both enjoyed seafood entrees - scallops and the daily special - and were extremely pleased with our choices.... More

We ate here for lunch recently and had a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Charles, was all Southern charm. Very attentive and polite, but did not hover. Their special mojito is very refreshing. The Seafood and Grits had perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops, and lobster. Grits were creamy and the Tasso gravy was perfectly seasoned. We were never rushed. All in all,... More

Terrific. We had a party of nine and everyone thought everything they had was first rate. All the dishes incorporate vegetables as a key component (a good thing). Very well-matched to each dish. First time through Charleston; this was exactly the food experience we were hoping for and would go back next time. A southern style of high touch culinary... More

Terrific refined Southern Cuisine. Fried green tomato appetizer with pickled onions and grits was super flavorful but not overly heavy. Note that most photos on Tripadvisor show the dining room in the front of the restaurant with the bar area and large street windows providing the classic downtown Charleston ambiance. Many people request to sit in this room. However, there... More

My wife had a filet of trout stuffed with crab meat which she said was simply delicious! I had the shellfish Grits but they replaced the grits with linguini. This dish was delicious. The best best restaurant that we have eaten at in Charleston.
