I expected to be wowed, to experience Southern cuisine at its finest, with a twist of originality. Let's rewind. My husband and I got there and were seated next to the door. We asked to be moved, and they graciously responded within minutes to our request. Service, a win! The menu offered small plates, which I like, because then I... More

I highly recommend Magnolias. It's a convenient to almost anywhere in the historic district. The atmosphere is quiet even though full. Each dish was superb. The crab bisque was full of crab and one of the best crab bisque that I've had. We had the trout stuffed with crab special. It also was excellently prepared and served over grits, which... More

Magnolia's is a must, for lunch or dinner and if you live close to Charleston it will soon become a favorite. From the moment you are greeted at the door, the staff is clearly dedicated to making your dining experience one to remember. The crab cakes, and the parmesan crusted flounder are particularly wonderful, but you can't miss with any... More

Magnolias was recommended by a local as an icon of southern fare. It exceeded expectations. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were exceptional! My main course was the fried chicken breast. It was served with collard greens, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Enough deliciousness on that plate to feed two people! We shared the pineapple coconut... More

We had lunch at Magnolias. We arrived about 1:15 pm - the lunch crowd was still present (though they started leaving soon after we arrived), so we were unable to be seated immediately. The hostess advised us that the bar was open, and had full food service. We went up and sat at the bar, and ended up enjoying our... More

Magnolia's was fairly new when I lived in Charleston over 20 years ago and it was one of my favorites for special meals. While visiting Charleston recently I went back to Magnolia's for lunch and it is still wonderful! My friend and I both enjoyed the Fried Green Tomato BLT with pimento cheese on jalapeno cornbread. I had the homemade... More

We were passing through overnight and wanted to treat ourselves. We couldn't get a reservation until 9:30pm but it was worth the wait. Food and service was fabulous!

Not an inexpensive place, but well worth it. Great mood, energetic and large but not crazily loud. Locals seemed pleased and impressed that we were able to go.

Ate here recently for a business dinner. Ordered the southern fried chicken and was absolutely delicious. Perfect seasoned. Service was very attentive. Atmosphere was pleasant. A great choice in Charleston that can please all with the large number of selections on their menu.
