It almost doesn't seem right to review the same restaurant again but sometimes things change. The change at Magnolia's was a renovation. The place is beautiful & comfortable. A trip to Charleston wouldn't be complete without a dinner at Magnolia's. The food as always was great. Had the shellfish over grits which is the best around. My wife had the... More

We were looking for southern cooking and we found it. Traditional with an upscale twist. White table cloth nice, but we showed up in jeans after a day of walking and felt fine. Ate at the bar since the tables were all full. Delicious fried chicken. Service was quick and professional. Recommended.

Magnolias is well known, busy and you need reservations. We really liked the atmosphere and service at Magnolias. Our servers, Joe and Carrie, were excellent. We found the food - except for the Blue Crab Bisque - that my husband thought was excellent - and the collard greens, which we both enjoyed - to be very disappointing. We split the... More

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. I've been to Magnolias several times and have not been disappointed. Charleston has many great restraunts, this is one of the best.

We first went to Magnolia's almost 25 years ago when it was an oasis in the culinary desert that was Charleston. Charleston has certainly changed dramatically for the better restaurant-wise, but Magnolia's remains at the forefront of the city's best restaurants. We arrived early, but the place was packed and the receptionist somewhat cool as she informed us they were... More

We visited Charleston for the first time and knowing it's called the friendliest city in USA were unpleasantly surprised with unfriendliness of the restaurant personnel. The restaurant is a bit upscale but we didn't have a chance to dress up as we walked the Market Street and it was a rainy and windy day so we probably didn't look elegant... More

Went on a girl's weekend and had special Bday dinner at Magnolias. The food and service were both AMAZING. Our waiter Sam was fantastic and gave great recommendations. Our favorites include: the award winning mac and cheese (creamy and rich), New York strip and buttermilk fried chicken. The collards were wonderful too. They saved the best for last. We had... More

My first trip to Charleston and everyone said I had to go to Magnolia's. I was expected to be disappointed. WRONG!! The crab bisque was thick and loaded with crab, do not add pepper and spoil the refined taste. The seafood with grits was worth every penny. Go and enjoy the great food and the great atmosphere.

Was told by the owner of our VRBO rental that Magnolia's was "pretty traditional Southern cooking." On other words, not a contemporary "foodie" place but more of a Charleston restaurant institution. Well, it certainly appealed to my foodie instincts, and I will return every time I'm lucky enough to be back in this wonderful city. The seafood over grits in... More

The food was fresh, service great and friendly. Reasonable prices for such a lovely place. I'd go again in a flash.
