Dana and Mike have created an iconic destination. The cornbread, pickles, mac and cheese, and pecan crusted fried chicken breast are not to be missed. If I have one meal to eat before I die in the electric chair it is to be at Jestine's Kitchen. Usually a wait as they do not take reservations so go early or late... More

If you can hit Jestine's at just the right time, you might not be in for a long wait; otherwise, prepare to stand in line. Jestine's is great Southern food - I love this place - it's just that wait in line that has kept me away a time or two. It's so homey inside - unmatched cups and plates... More

Big fan of grits and this place makes the best Shrimp and grits. Also great fried chicken. Get there early or you will be waiting in line!

2 things I never order at a restaurant are meatloaf or fried chicken. I only eat take out fried chicken or make it at the rare occasion at home. My wife and I order both of these items and it was great. We started off with some pickled cucumbers, the best cornbread and local warm honey. The dark meat fried... More

We were recommended to it by the helpful visitors centre staff, and found it to be all that it was said to be. Speedy and courteous waiters. Such mouthwatering crispy coating on the chicken. Fried okra. Cucumber slices at your table. Good location. Southern fried chicken at its best!

Fried chicken is the best! Moist and tasty meat with crispy skin. Seafood was fresh and delicious. We ate there twice during our vacation.

Original Southern cooking from a restaurant with a ling, rich history, fabulous local experience and reasonable prices made this a must do lunch while in Charleston. Just far enough away from the tourist center, but easily accessible in downtown Charleston.

I ate there upon the recommendation of a friend of a friend. There was nothing memorable about the atmosphere or the meal. This restaurant is what I consider to be a neighborhood eatery. The most memorable food for me was the coconut cream pie. I was expecting (most excitedly) my favorite meringue topped pie. What I received was a very... More
