We didn't have reservations and ended up sitting at the bar. I was very impressed about how knowledgeable the bartender was about the menu and how the food was prepared. The food was the best!!!

McCradys has been one of our favorite places to celebrate - we've had our daughter's birthday meals there in January for the past 3 or 4 years. But this year, January 2015, I have to say we were disappointed. The food was - well, just trying too hard to surprise, maybe. Or maybe somewhat pretentious. For the price one pays,... More

My husband, daughter, and I recently had a holiday dinner at McCrady's during our two-night stay in Charleston. Upon walking in, we were very impressed with the casually elegant decor and atmosphere of McCrady's, with its historic venue. Upon being seated, however, we experienced our first hint of pretension, as our white napkins on the table were whisked away—and replaced... More

I was super excited to try this restaurant because of all the hype around Sean Brock. We were sorely disappointed with the food although the service was excellent. The portions were tiny. The food was average and over priced. I definitely would not go back. I won't be trying any of Sean's other restaurants either.

Awesome bartenders with loads of pro experience. Tasty beverages and great selections of beer/wines. Appetizer specials are the way to go. Creative choices that are executed very nicely. The dining room is a touch fussy, but I appreciate the service quality and why they'd go to this extreme. Absolutely a solid choice in Charleston for creative cuisine in a 3... More

It is Restaurant week in Charleston and we were very excited to take advantage of the fact to try McCrady's again. We were not disappointed. I had an amazing crab, butternut squash and grapefruit appetizer, followed by a tender cut of beef beautifully prepared with cauliflower served grilled and pureed and for a dessert an amazing pumpkin creation. My husb... More

I had wanted to try McCrady's for years. The opportunity to finally see for myself whether to believe the great reviews or to side with the others had come. I had heard of the fixed menu... not particularly adverse to the idea, as two of the greatest meals I have ever eaten were a "fixed menu". So that wasn't considered... More

Our waiter kept telling us that the plates were an "expression" of a concept of light dining, the dish was an "expression" of beef, everything an "expression" of something or another. At 2/3 the price, the prix fixe and the pour would have been fine, but not at full fare.

The place only has a fixed price, multiple course meal. The portions are small while the price is very high and not worth it. The staff is marvelous--the best part of the experience--- and the location is very nice. But for the money, there are many other places that are just as nice and provide equally good meals with choices!... More

The restaurant is in an alley and in a restored barn/garage or something. It is beautiful, the service is wow over the top. The food was the most disgusting tasting food I have had in a very long time. It looked beautiful and if they had just made sure it tasted good before serving it would have been amazing. This...
