We recently moved out of Chucktown after 10+ years and this is one of our favorite spots for dinner. Great atmosphere either location and the soup/sandwich combo is an easy go to. Love the tomato soup with a Cobb salad. Maybe they'll open one in Zurich!

Great place for a quiet meal. Could have easily ordered one of 10 dinners on the menu. The butternut squash pasta with a sauce with cranberries was exceptional. Meals look like they are lovingly prepared and artfully arranged. Delicious bread and salad. Modest but nice selection of wine/beer. Very efficient and friendly wait staff. A bit of a walk from... This wonderful restaurant was able to accommodate a large party of nine and serve us in a short time. We were impressed by the gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu that was clearly denoted. ( since we had several in those categories) The beef tenderloin was scrumptious .

This has been one of my favorite experiences at a restaurant. It's vegetarian-friendly, the food was awesome and the environment was trendy and mod but not pretentious. The dining room is very spacious but it's the kind of atmosphere where [considerate] people have great, low-key conversations. Would love to find more places like this everywhere. I can't wait to visit... More

So glad we took the time to walk to this little out of the way restaurant. Originally our family was looking forward to eating here for lunch but we arrived late on our family trip. We decided to check it out for dinner and we are ecstatic we did. The daily specials were inviting and I chose the pumpkin seed... More

I was entertaining family in Charleston, and we ate lunch at Five Loaves Cafe. I have eaten at this restaurant before and knew that it was a good idea to get there early to avoid a wait. We arrived about 30 minutes after they opened and was seated immediately in the back room. Our waiter greeted us right away and... More

A really good meal. We rented bikes on a Saturday and this was our stop for lunch. It's more of a local place (in a good way) that serves really good food prepared just the right way. Lot's of soups and sandwiches. Really, if you want lunch in downtown Charleston, this is your place. Just know it's not a huge... More

I may have had inflated expectations for this one because I read so many positive reviews. We went around 6:00 on a Thursday and were able to sit immediately. The bread and oil was delicious. I ordered fettucine with tomato sauce and bread chicken. My wife ordered the trio soup sampler. She liked 2 of the 3 soups. My chicken... More

As a native Charlestonian I am always looking for new places to try out without breaking the bank. More often than not I am disappointed. I was not disappointed by Five Loaves Cafe. The restaurant (downtown location) is small and there is not a lot of room, and lunch time can be a challenge. Just after lunch, around 1:00, it... More

I have been here twice in the past two years, stopping by on the way to Hilton Head, SC. Both times I had a great experience. As seen in the title, I love that they have half portion options, which gives you the opportunity to try more from their menu. Try the soup sampler! The food is very affordable and... More
