Really Good

Wanted to have lunch at Hall's Chop House. Stopped in but they're closed. A young lady working there preparing for dinner service asked if she could recommend something for us. She had several ideas for us including Basil. She said it was her favorite place as well as the staff at Hall's... read more

Came here for my birthday dinner with my husband and two small girls. We are from Australia and have been living in US for 3 years. This is not only the best Thai food we have eaten but possibly the best meal we have had since being here. The Red Duck Curry was just amazing as was the satay starters... More

This was my first time at Basil's and have all intentions of returning before I leave Charleston. Food was excellent and plentiful. Service was right on! Wasn't rushed, a few times manager/owner made the rounds to make sure everything was ok. They do not take reservations, but worth the wait!

I was solo, and they have an awesome bar seating area, where you look over the kitchen through a glass wall. A real treat for a "foodie" like me. The kitchen staff all looked to be having fun while they created. Nice moderate priced wine selections. No draught beers. Being my first time, I went with my server's recommendations. Starting... The menu was extensive, from the standard Thai classics to some very innovative dishes and drinks. I started with the spring rolls that were light, crisp and very flavorful. I asked for a recommendation for a spicy chicken choice and the waiter suggested the Basil Chicken. He was right - it was delicious! To top it off, I tried the... More

We have eaten here several times over the past three months. Our first experience was take-out for 2; we thought the food was okay but somewhat overpriced, so we decided to dine in about a week later. We found the food to be much better and enjoyed the atmosphere, so have returned a couple of times since. Our opinion of... More

Above average Thai food in a great convenient location. Spring rolls and Nom tok apps are recommended. Many menu items are create your own combinations of spice, heat and protein.

I recently stopped in at Basil for a quick lunch and was really pleased with the whole experience. I wasn't very hungry, so I only ordered soup - Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut). It was delicious. Really creamy and full of flavor. The lemon grass was there without being overwhelming. My only negative was that it was just a tiny... More
