From the fried rice to the wontons, there is no bad choice. They will probably always be on my top list of asian restaurants. I will continue to frequent them because the wait staff is very personable that you feel like you have known them forever.

We dined here tonight and found it excellent. Probably the best Thai I visited in the USA over the years. We both had Pad Thai and the waiter told us it was the best and he did not lie. Service was prompt and friendly and the waiter to time to advise about dishes. Try the custard with coconut desserts, it... More

Enjoyed a business luncheon here recently, and it was very pleasing. Comfortable surroundings, attentive staff, and a wide selection of dishes and drinks. A little tight and open for serious business talk, but an awesome choice in downtown. Conveniently located just a few blocks north of Calhoun on King Street, it is easy to get to and you have plenty... More

We were taken to Basil by some friends. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had the Pad See Ew. They were a bit different than what we were used to at our local Thai restaurant but were delicious and plentiful. I really enjoyed the raw bean sprout and shredded carrots that came with the meals. I would recommend... More

I have eaten here three times, always get the pad thai and split it with someone else, it is always, fast, fresh, and delicious. Seems kind of a shame to eat at a chain restaurant in Charleston, but after eating $$$ but tiny meals all weekend, we were tired of experimenting with southern cuisine and just wanted good solid dependable... On our road trip through the South we wanted to get away from the steaks, burgers and blackened fish and decided to visit Basil Thai Restaurant in Charleston. I love Thai food, but I'm often a bit disappointed with Thai food in the USA. Not this time! We even went back the following day to have another dinner here. The... More

I have eaten at least 50 times at Basil since they first opened up on King Street. Now they also have a restaurant in Mount Pleasant. I have tried nearly everything they have on the menu at least once, and never had a bad meal. The restaurants have identical menus, and serve consistently good food. You can watch the kitchen... What a delight! Basil really stands on it's own in a town known for its seafood and low country cuisine. The som tum was tops--just the right amount of garlic and heat--and the ginger chicken was tender and flavorful. We sat at the "chef's bar" which provided added entertainment... The crew runs a tight ship at Basil turning out one... More

I sat at the chef's table and was able to watch them at work. The spring rolls were some of the best I've had...nice basil leaf inside that added a lovely licorice flavor. Had the Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, and it was excellent. Could only eat about half of it, as the portions were generous. Great service, and... More
