our first visit, pleasant atmosphere, good service. Entrees were served piping hot, the way we like, and well seasoned. Only minor comment was this; served a HALF glass of wine. At 7.50 would like a full glass. Will return.

I had lunch at Basil and tried the Tom Aban Talay seafood soup. It was the best seafood soup I can remember. The mussels, clams and calamari were fresh and generous and the broth was exceptional - I'll be back the next time in Charleston!

Stopped in at Basil for dinner and honestly, was a bit disappointed. Nice atmosphere, though not very Thai...service was good, but the food was a little disappointing! We ordered Tom Yum soup and asked for chicken instead of the shrimp. The server didn't seem at all sure of what we were asking. When she brought the soup, she had substituted... More

traditional Thai food in this happenin place. The portions are big. If adventuresome try the red curry duck.

I was just visiting Charleston over the weekend from Pennsylvania and we decided to check out some Thai food. This was one of the highlights of our trip! The food, environment, and service was all top notch. I highly recommend the soup, it is enough for the table to share. I will definitely be visiting Basil on my next trip... More

Great food and fast. Extremely loud. Not easy to find good vegetarian food in Charleston, this was a happy find.

From the fried rice to the wontons, there is no bad choice. They will probably always be on my top list of asian restaurants. I will continue to frequent them because the wait staff is very personable that you feel like you have known them forever.

We dined here tonight and found it excellent. Probably the best Thai I visited in the USA over the years. We both had Pad Thai and the waiter told us it was the best and he did not lie. Service was prompt and friendly and the waiter to time to advise about dishes. Try the custard with coconut desserts, it... More

Enjoyed a business luncheon here recently, and it was very pleasing. Comfortable surroundings, attentive staff, and a wide selection of dishes and drinks. A little tight and open for serious business talk, but an awesome choice in downtown. Conveniently located just a few blocks north of Calhoun on King Street, it is easy to get to and you have plenty... More

We were taken to Basil by some friends. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had the Pad See Ew. They were a bit different than what we were used to at our local Thai restaurant but were delicious and plentiful. I really enjoyed the raw bean sprout and shredded carrots that came with the meals. I would recommend... More
