Go here. Get the pineapple mojito. Eat everything! Second visit here and it was just as good as the last. Honestly, we probably came to Charleston in part because of Basil. Service is fast. If you are couple try to get seated by the prep area. It's pretty neat.

We were surprised by finding outstanding Thai cooking in the low country. Four adults and three kids. We had one basil and five pad Thais. Four pad Thais would have been more than enough. It eas as tasty as we have had anywhere.

The title is what I said to my daughter when she wanted to go to Basil in Charleston. Really? Thai in Charleston, with all the great southern cooking around? This was probably the best Thai food I've ever had and one of the best in Charleston. If you're tired of the fried chicken and shrimp and grits in Charleston -... More

Basil's is always on our must visit list when coming to Charleston. Again, we stopped by but a bit later in the evening as there is always a line waiting to be seated. We sat at the bar by the window so we could people watch while we ate and drank. Had a couple of good drinks and appetizers and... More

This is one of the first places I ate in Charleston and it did not disappoint. I asked the server to suggest something (sadly I can't remember the name of the dish) and it was awesome. The flavors were excellent and the portions were a decent size. I will definitely visit here again.

The duck salad was the best. The spring rolls very good. Pad See Ew noodles were excellent. Great location and excellent service.

Normally, we avoid the noise and clatter generated in a restaurant like Basil, but what a great choice this proved to be. They don't take reservations, and after 20 minutes we accepted two seats at the bar looking into the glassed-in kitchen, and welcomed the entertainment this provided. The food was really, really fantastic, possibly the best Thai we have... More

Let's start with the good - the food is absolutely incredible. So good that my partner and I went twice during our short stint in Charleston. Seriously, I don't think I've had any Thai food this amazing since actually being in Bangkok. Combined, we ate the Chicken Larb & the Nam Tok for appetizers and Pad See-Eu & Spicy Thai... More

Maybe it was the Restaurant Week menu but the food we had was good, but not spectacular. Simply put, the food didn't seem fresh. Our server acted as if being there was the least of her worries. The Pad Thai was the only item I truly enjoyed. I would be willing to try again.

We didn't expect temperatures in the 40's this time of year but lunch at this restaurant made the day. We arrived around 12:30 and were lucky to be seated immediately. Both of us had different versions of the Express Lunch for $12.95 which included an appetizer sized dish, entree and beverage. Perfectly spiced food that left that good, burning feeling... More
