We were taken to Basil by some friends. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had the Pad See Ew. They were a bit different than what we were used to at our local Thai restaurant but were delicious and plentiful. I really enjoyed the raw bean sprout and shredded carrots that came with the meals. I would recommend... More

I have eaten here three times, always get the pad thai and split it with someone else, it is always, fast, fresh, and delicious. Seems kind of a shame to eat at a chain restaurant in Charleston, but after eating $$$ but tiny meals all weekend, we were tired of experimenting with southern cuisine and just wanted good solid dependable... On our road trip through the South we wanted to get away from the steaks, burgers and blackened fish and decided to visit Basil Thai Restaurant in Charleston. I love Thai food, but I'm often a bit disappointed with Thai food in the USA. Not this time! We even went back the following day to have another dinner here. The... More

I have eaten at least 50 times at Basil since they first opened up on King Street. Now they also have a restaurant in Mount Pleasant. I have tried nearly everything they have on the menu at least once, and never had a bad meal. The restaurants have identical menus, and serve consistently good food. You can watch the kitchen... What a delight! Basil really stands on it's own in a town known for its seafood and low country cuisine. The som tum was tops--just the right amount of garlic and heat--and the ginger chicken was tender and flavorful. We sat at the "chef's bar" which provided added entertainment... The crew runs a tight ship at Basil turning out one... More

I sat at the chef's table and was able to watch them at work. The spring rolls were some of the best I've had...nice basil leaf inside that added a lovely licorice flavor. Had the Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, and it was excellent. Could only eat about half of it, as the portions were generous. Great service, and... More

I had a hankering for some thai food so my husband and I trekked through the rain after our tour of Fort Sumter to go eat here. I got the masaman curry which was absolutely fantastic and my husband got the pad thai which he said was also very good. We then got a couple of tasty drinks while we... More

We dropped in to Basil Thai for lunch while on vacation. My husband and I remember being at this restaurant about 6 years ago and having a wonderful meal. Our visit this time did not dissapoint. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was fabulous. I had wide noodles with basil, perfectly spiced and layered with flavor. My husband... More

When walking up to the Basil your not sure if this is the place, but as soon as you open the door and walk in you know you have arrived. Lots of locals call this place a favorite and you will taste why. I had some of the best Pad Thai ever, something I was not expecting in this lovely... More
