We decided to come in out of the Charleston heat to cool off. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. We had pad Thai, Tom yum, green curry, spring rolls and coconut ice cream. Everything was fresh, and delicious!

Excellent service. The food was good. The atmosphere was nice , but too loud. The food was served very expediently and they did a great job with the food.

My second visit to Basil on King street, the first time I went it was pretty good. A nice night so we sat outside. The staff was great -- very on the ball without being intrusive. The food was a bit disappointing for me though. I ordered the Nam Sod (typically a spicy combination of ground pork and spices) which... More

Food was delicious and ordered from gluten free selections. However Basil neglects to share that they use MSG in all their food. My travel companion and I were sick all night!!! Called and they confirmed our suspicions. Come Basil, own up and move to natural sauces.

Basil has a variety of sauces and options for eating. The red and green curry is great but their Basil sauce is amazing. You can get any option of meat including shrimp or go vegetarian. Basil is also a great date spot for couples but has a small bar area for a little more entertainment.

Considering the location of this restaurant, their rants and ratings i was expecting to see somewhat higher than average prices. I ordered basil duck which was $25.00... It was drowned with garlic sauce, which is okay I suppose, but the meat itself didnt have much flavor. For that price i was expecting a better tasting dish. The $9.00 pineapple mojito... More

We met some friends here for a birthday dinner and the restaurant was great. My wife and I arrived an hour early to sit at the bar and try some of the appetizers. They have a good selection of drinks, but their food menu isn't that big. Thankfully what they do offer, they produce really well. In the times we've... More

Took my family for dinner, Firstly, the service was less than average. Caitlyn our server was very inattentive. Secondly, I expected the food to be somewhat original and it was very Americanized. Lastly, we ordered a few drink and they were average at most. A very expensive restaurant for Thai food.... If you want Thai not the place to go.... More

Beautifully decorated & the food was great. I had Thai Noodles with your choice of chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp. For an appetizer I had spring rolls & my husband had a hot & sour shrimp soup, they were both amazing. portions were more than you would have expected. Choice of main course & appetizer for $12.95 with tea or... More

We love Basil - we've eaten there several times. We've also eaten at the one in Mt. Pleasant. It is much easier to get a table in Mt. Pleasant and the outside deck is amazing! The one downtown has great food and service and we love the dishes. We love the Pad Thai and the Gyoza and the potato/chicken dish... More
