My fiancé and I went to Bessinger's for the first time tonight. We walked in and there was a buffet. The food was bland, and honestly, gross. The mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese tasted like cardboard. The fried chicken was over-cooked and dry. We only took one trip to the buffet and left. The waitress brought us our drinks... More

Absolutely LOVE this place!! Every time we come to Charleston we always stop at Bessingers. The BBQ is outrageous and we always grab a rack of ribs to take home. The staff is always so friendly.

I want to give Bessinger's five circles, but more about that later. The good news? We went for the Friday night buffet and it was a fantastic deal: $13.95, including iced tea. Yummy barbecued pork, delicious barbecue stew (similar to Brunswick stew), fresh salads, fab collard greens. Lots of tasty desserts too. Customer service was full of southern hospitality and... More

So our hotel recommended this place, so we thought we would give it a try. The place was empty. They don't serve any liquor, so no beer & wings. Everything is Cafeteria style, so no real personal service. My Daughters both ordered Chicken Sandwiches, & they didn't look to great & were average. I had the beef brisket, which was... More

My wife and I and our extended family (kids, grandkids, and, now and then, assorted cousins and nephews) spend a week most summers on Sullivan's Island, a piece of barrier sand off Charleston, SC. This summer was no exception, but this year we took the occasion to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday with a bang-up party that, with one thing... More

We were passing through the area on a road trip and came here at the suggestion of a relative that lives in the area. Had the ribs and while not the greatest ribs I've ever had, they were certainly very good. I'd certainly go here again if I lived in the area. If you've ever been to a place like... More

We went there for the lunch buffet and was quite pleased. There was a good selection of sides and entree's. The salad bar was also nice. My only regret was that instead of bbq brisket, they had roast beef. The roast beef was fine, but seemed a bit odd for a barbecue place.

I've been eating there since I was a baby and it was Piggy Park BBQ. The best BBQ, onion rings and hamburgers, hands down!

Not a week goes by that my Wife and I are not at Bessinger's Barbecue for lunch or dinner ... we have been eating here for over 20 years. They have the best Cheeseburgers in Charleston. Try one with a side of Fried Okra or Fried Green Tomatoes. My Wife loves their Pulled Pork sandwich with steak fries and the... More
