Good food

Have visited twice when in the area. Both times the food and service was great. Will make a point of stopping again when down in SC.

I had heard about this restaurant and got coupons from the travel guides. The menu had standard and local traditional fare. I was absolutely thrilled with the Wadamalaw delight appetizer - essentially fried tomatoes with seasoned creamy grits. The waitress helped us pick thru the menu to get my family exactly what they would enjoy. My husband and I landed... More

After hearing mixed reviews about Hyman's I was a little hesitant considering it's mostly shellfish and fried food. Nonetheless, I found myself craving something different for lunch one day. I decided to give Hyman's a try. For starters, the boiled peanuts and cheesy grits which I never had before being from NY, were wonderful! The fried green tomatoes were fantastic.... More

We found this place in midafternoon on our arrival in Charleston and we immediately got a table. Seeing the huge lineups that evening up and down the street made me want to tell these folks..."find somewhere else." The food we had was adequate, and underwhelming in flavor and presentation. Everything is fried and refried here. .The diners seated near us... More

The food and service were very good, what was not that great is that it was on a rather big road and the building itself did not have the charm of other (more expensive as well) restaurants..

We were not impressed with the food here at all. We shared a seafood plate with a 3 choice, shrimp, crab cake, and salmon cake. The shrimp was very good the crab cake was okay, I did not like the salmon at all. It had some sort of a cajun seasoning on it that was not great. We also had... More

As a Charleston resident in the hospitality industry, it is an unspoken rule to not dine at Hyman's, and that is for good reason! My boyfriend, his family and I dined at Hyman's for restaurant week. We walked in to the bar, where the bartender refused to acknowledge us, even though there was no one at the bar. She had... More

Hyman's is famous in Charleston and was recommended to us by a cousin. The wait is usually very long to get a table. The first night, the wait was 1.5 hours...unbearable of course, so we ended up somewhere else. We returned the second night to 'only' a 20 minute wait. That was okay, because we browsed in their gift shop... More

This place is busy and delightful. The fried flounder plate tastes as great as it looks. She-Crab Soup is excellent. Tables are marked according to which famous celebrity ate there: I sat at James Brown's table.

Let me just say, as far as service goes, this place is on its game. My husband and I felt very important and the food was fabulous. Best seafood I've had in life. My husband has been begging to go to this place with me forever, I was not let down. I believe our servers name was eric? He was... More
