I've been meaning to write a review of this place for some time and that's because when we visit the downtown area, we find ourselves at Hymans most of time for either lunch or supper. The service is outstanding and the food is even better. There isn't a favorite here because it's all real good food. These folks really know... More

We went to Hymans for a late lunch. The wait was short and the hush puppies were wonderful. We were seated overlooking the street which was nice. I sat where the brass plate on the table stated "Michael Phelps ate here". The walls are decorated with photos of stars, athletes, and politicians who have dined before us. A really fun... More

My friends and I went to Charleston on a quest to find the best seafood-in particular-shrimp and grits. Now, we are all from the south. So, we have had lots of versions of shrimp and grits. This restaurant exceeded my expectations and then some. The server, Amy, was so friendly and helpful. I am not sure if it was the... More

Totally a waste of money. Eli is warm and obsequious but that doesn't change the quality of the food. Bypass the lines and find somewhere else.

There was hair in both of our food plates. Once we saw that we could not eat another bite! Manager made it right, but this ruined the whole experience. The food was not that great either for the price. Tried this place, but won't go back!

We had very high hopes for Hyman's after tasting the fantastic hush puppies before we were seated. When the food came which we all ordered shrimp, scallops, crab cake and one had oysters. Some of the platters were broiled some fried. The worst were the scallops. The broiled were overcooked and were not edible as were the fried. I ordered,... More

We enjoy this spot--along with hundreds of other guests each lunch or dinner time. There is usually a line to get in. The fried seafood is good--the usual that most Southern seafood restaurants serve. My husband tried the Crispy Flounder and found it to be exceptionally good. Skip the She-crab soup here--it's mostly white sauce.

Arrived mid-afternoon to a half-hour wait..... Opted to sit at the bar but the entire restaurant was lovely inside. Order the She Crab soup and margaritas or Palmetto beer. Perfect tourist spot as it's close to King Street, the City Market and carriage rides.

We should have took time to read some of the recent Reviews instead of looking at the overall rating. Many people are saying that the food quality has went down in recent months and I must agree. We ate there last night (4 in our party) and none of us had quality food. They snow crab legs were below average... More

Boiled peanuts brought to your table when you sit down. Enough food to share. The fried whole flounder is so amazing! Moist and so good! My favorite!!! Best place to get a bloody mary! Great gift shop with awesome prices. The manager approached every table to make sure they enjoyed their meal. He approached our table and he was so... More
