We were here for dinner and we got to sit right beside the kitchen. It was kind of fun watching them as they really seemed to enjoy their work. The food was good although not the best I had in Charleston. The menu was not well organized and the shrimp in garlic and butter was good but not outstanding. It... More

If you want seafood this is the place to supposedly go in Charleston. We went for a late lunch. We were seated pretty quickly. The waiter took our drink order and then brought out some hush puppies for the table. 2 of us ordered Bloody Mary's - and only 1 was delivered to the table. I said something to the... More

My wife and I try to get Hyman's when we are in Charleston. We have been going there for years and we have never been let down. You are treated like a long lost family member when you walk through their door. The staff falls all over themselves to take care of you. Hyman's has grown through the years but... More

I have always stopped in at Hyman's when visiting Charleston. What has made this place amazing is the management. This is a family run business and they truly value the customer. I proposed to my wife on the beach in Charleston and we came to eat at Hyman's later that evening. When she told the manager about our day they... More

Stopped for a late lunch! We missed the crowds, so we were seated immediately. There was a coupon in one of the flyers, so we used it for the free fried green tomatoes and grits. This was excellent and free! The waitress was great, we were going to get a basket of hush puppies, but she let us know that... More

This place is a well-known institution but I was not impressed with the food. My wife had a bowl of she-crab soup and LOVED it. My Jambalaya was very, very disappointing. It was not spicy at all, but just blah.

Great service and very solid food, nothing fancy but very fresh and reasonable. Neat old building and run by the same family for 5 plus generations!
