Attentive-enthusiastic wait staff and management. Food was fresh, delicious, creative and well- presented. Only reason this didn't get a 5-star was that one of the wines we ordered was very marginal.

Delicious, innovative and authentic. You MUST include dinner at Cru Cafe for any trip to Charleston. We sat at the Chef's table and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We started our late lunch with mussels - the best mussels I have ever had. Followed by the Mac and cheese and the fried goat cheese salad. All was absolutely wonderful! The restaurant itself is very quaint and staff friendly. Within walking to the market and King street. We made a day of the whole experience.

Situated in an old house in a quiet area downtown, they have limited seating and a dinner reservation made well in advance is advised, especially for a weekend night. Two weeks ahead I was unable to book a table online at a reasonable time for either Thursday or Friday night (I wanted 8pm for a group of 6) but I... More

Cru Cafe was by gar the best meal we had while on Charleston. Had to make a reservation for lunch. Mac and cheese is to die for and the pork loin sandwich with palmetto cheese is mouth watering great.

We had reservations for 8:15, arrived a few minutes before that time and were promptly seated. Our drink orders were taken promptly. We started with fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Wow were they good. They were sweeter than I've ever had with the caramel, but not too sweet. The pork belly "croutons" were phenomenal as well. Our Australian waitress... More

Why this is rated #4 of all charleston restaurants I can't figure out. The food was good but not great. We arrived late without a reservation and were able to get a small table. Service was excellent but food was just okay.

Wow, what a (good) shock. A tour guide told us that Charleston is one of the top culinary destinations in the country and Cru made me a believer. It is in an old, small house—the living room and dining room make up the dining area (so make reservations). It has an informal feel, but the food is as good as... More

I am not able to rate the food itself as we were never seated, although we had made reservations weeks before our visit to Charleston. We arrived at 7:50 for for our 8:00 PM reservation on Thurs. night and were told that it would only be a short while before our table would be ready and we were offered wine... More
