The food was excellent but the crowd at lunch can overwhelm the staff. Once we were seated we experienced a true southern lunch. I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw. It was good to the last bite. I have had sweet tea a lot, and their's ranked just behind my mother-in-laws. The breeze on the... read more

The food was both unique and gourmet style. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The service was also excellent. We will be going back to Cru Café the next time we visit Charleston!!

Was recommended by our concierge at our hotel that made us a reservation for lunch. It was delicious! Had the simple but divine butter salad with chicken. My husband tried the fried green tomates. We split the mac and cheese. Both were awesome. Highly recommend the banana pudding. Melts in your mouth. I would come here again without a doubt!... More

This is a quaint little restaurant just outside of the city market. I recommend having a reservation as we waited over an hour to be seated. The Shrimp BLT was amazing along with the fried goat cheese salad. We will most definitely be visiting Cru Cafe again when we come back to Charleston!

Disappointed based on reviews here and word of mouth. Beet salad was good but the special was blackened wahoo which sounded good. It was way too salty and just a bit overdone which ruins fish. Excited for bread pudding for dessert - very bland. My friend and I just didn't get the hype.

Wow, this restaurant is a great find. It was recommended to us by our hotel. We arrived around 7p, and the restaurant was crowded. We anticipated a wait but at first were told without reservations that they could not take us. As we sat in the courtyard calling our hotel for another recommendation, we were told they could take us... More

We ate at Cru on our last night in Charleston, and it was a terrific meal and experience. It's a casual atmosphere, and the view of the kitchen is entertaining to watch. The flounder chief special was fantastic, and the fried goat cheese salad was amazing. The host was attentive and personable. It's small, so make reservations.

We visited here based on the rating in Trip Advisor. The food was ok but the setting really detracted from the experience. The outside waiting area is adjacent to the dumpsters. Inside the space was very small& cramped to the point of inducing claustrophobia. The service was a little slow & drink refills nearly nonexistent. The desserts were very good.... More

It worth's a visit. I have been there three times, and have been pleased three times. Good food, nice people. Fish, scallops, beef, all good.

This was my second time here - once solo and once with a biz partner - both times we sat at the chefs table....EXCELLENT service - incredible menu - creative and delicious. When you sit at the chef table they randomly give you tastings of some of the dishes they are making...any fries...YUM!! I had burger the first time and... More
