We booked two seats at the 'chef's table' ; the counter overlooking the food preparation. While our excellent meals were being prepared we chatted with the staff. We had a fun evening that was an wonderful start to our stay in Charleston.

Cru Cafe is located in the Market a District in Charleston. It is in a beautiful house with indoor & outdoor seating. The staff & chefs are all very friendly. We did not have a reservation & sat outside. I would recommend getting a reservation & ask to sit at the table that looks into the kitchen. Their Mac &... More

before anything else I have to say... peach and strawberry bread pudding, lord have mercy, this dessert!! as if our meal wasn't enough, this was cherry on the cake, i could cry knowing i'm so far away from this. as far as the food, just as delightful, got the sandwich special, pork and upgraded to truffle fries, yummy! We visited Cru Cafe on our East Coast road trip this August, and it was one of our favorite spots! We tried our luck without a reservation on a Thursday night and the place was full as we were afraid. However, the waiter was super friendly and promised us to have a table in 10 min. While waiting he kept... More

We had lunch here on a Saturday. (Be sure to make a reservation!) Even though my husband and I arrived thirty minutes early, we were still accommodated. The staff was very friendly and attentive. After eating so heavily the night before, we wanted something light, but delicious. We both had the tomato basil soup that arrived in a coffee cup... More

There are so many reasons for our returning to Cru knowing that the food and service are going to be great. We had dinner for the first time here and it was wonderful. Entrees were a great blend of ingredients and the best Holy City mud porter beer and King Bee special blend coffee. A very special place, using local... More

My wife and I ate here during our most recent visit to Charleston. Though the food is probably some of the best in the Charleston, the service we had was totally inept and inexcusable. I believe this is the fault of the management in the lack of training provided. My wife and I had a reservation, requesting to sit on... More

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel for lunch. We made reservations as we heard it was always booked. First time there we had the BBQ brisket sandwich (very tasty), and a great cheeseburger. It was just right for lunch - near the downtown market. Next day we were hungry and in the same location, so . . . .... More

Talk about a small but busy place!! The food is fabulous, I had a shrimp BLT with pepper jack and beurre blanc for lunch with a dill potato bacon soup that was creamy and absolutely delicious. The staff were helpful and calm despite the chaos. I was seated at a table overlooking the kitchen and it was fascinating to watch... More
