Good Food, Tight Quarters

You need reservations for lunch. It's an old house and the tables are close together. Our food was great, though. It's not cheap, but the food is worth it.

We stopped by for lunch during our visit to Charleston and, generally speaking, everything was great. We chose to share a Tomato & Mozzarella appetizer which looked delicious, but this was so salted that it actually detracted from what was otherwise a great dish. Once we got past the appetizers the main lunch entrees were terrific.

Recently went to Cru for dinner while in Charleston and had a wonderful meal. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's such a small place you feel like you're dining at a friends house. With six people we all ordered something different and everyone raved about their food so I can't imagine you'd go wrong with anything they... More

On our last day in Charleston, my husband suggested Cru Cafe for lunch. We visited Cru last year in March, and will return each year, as it is that good! After promptly being seated for our 12 noon reservation on the front porch, we were greeted by our smiling, friendly waitress. Our mint iced tea was so refreshing on the sunny 80... More

My Mum and I have been meeting up in Charleston for several years now and we always book a spot at the Chefs Table for Cru Cafe. The Chefs Table is right in the windows of the kitchen so you can watch the the heart beat of Cru Cafe create all the food for the restaurant live! It is fascinating... More

this place is amazing. It's small and cozy and would definitely recommend making reservations. It's set off the beaten path but close to the Market in an old house. The staff and service was excellent and the food was amazing. Did I say the food was amazing? Well it is. We have two appetizers. The scallops and the tuna with... More

We recently had a wonderful dinner here after the Historic Foundation house and garden tours. It was a chilly day so we ordered the mushroom and truffle soup of the day, which had subtle earthy flavor. The pork shank was perfectly cooked in a delicious smoky barbeque sauce. My friends enjoyed the osso bucco and a butter lettuce salad with... More

There are only about 8 tables, so make a reservation! The food was amazing, great flavor and presentation! Friendly, efficient staff and cute building. The mac & cheese was consistently recommended but didn't quite live up to the hype for us. Still, the meal was quite awesome, and we highly recommend lunch at Cru.
