This place is very small so that is why it is so crowded but it is also super loud. Even the staff is exceedingly loud, not just the patrons. We had to raise our voices quiet a bit just to speak to each other. Service was very slow. Food and wine was fine. Menu is small and limited. Overall below... More

On our recent road trip we were lucky to get a late reservation at CRU. Where to start.....ok, put aside the tasteful location, perfectly placed and appointed table on the porch of an historic Charleston home (if you can) and imagine a small 25+ restaurant that just knows exactly what they are doing.....from the bread to the wine, this gold... We stopped in for lunch at the suggestion of our concierge at the Courtyard by Marriot in Historic district. He made a lunch reservation for us after our walking tour. We would not have gotten in for lunch had he not made the reservation. We had the Salad with goat cheese, Calamari, Ceasar Salad, and kids had chicken fingers. All... More

We had lunch at Cru while visiting the city on the recommendation of Kevin McQuade from the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. The Garlic Marinated Chicken Club which comes with Bacon and sides, nice size serving, very tasty and great lunch well priced at $9.95. My wife had the small plate Smoked Salmon open faced sandwich which she really enjoyed.

We ate here for lunch on a visit to Charleston. We got here right before they stop serving lunch at 3 pm. I had the fried goat cheese salad with shrimp. The salad was very fresh and light and the shrimp was well seasoned and tasty. The fried goat cheese was good, but not great. I have had better and... More

My family and I chose the Cru Cafe based on the good trip advisor reviews. We made a reservation to dine, which is recommended, as the venue is small. My review is going to be a mixed one. The restaurant is set up in a lovely old house, and we dined on the porch, which was nice. It is located... More

Made reservations on Open Table and asked to sit on porch and I am so glad I did! The server was charming and had great recommendations. I started with the Pecan Fried Brie which was absolutely wonderful and then had the Chicken Club which was equally as good. Sitting on the porch and watching the horse and carriage tours go... More

It's quite refreshing to watch gourmet chefs prepare your food in front of you at prices that could compare to the normal tourist eating establishments here in Charleston. The truffle mushroom bisque was a huge delicious portion for under 5 dollars. The Thai seafood risotto was as fabulous as mentioned in other reviews. The side of sautéed mushrooms were extremely... Tiny restaurant with big flavors. Wait staff is super friendly. Try the duck - amazing! And leave some room for the generous serving of strawberry bread pudding - would be worth the trip by itself.

Our group of 7 was immediately seated and the wait staff was very attentive. The setting is quaint and very homey. The food was OUTSTANDING!! Servers suggestions were spot on. The special app of lobster manicotti was delicious, as was the peaches and cream small plate. Dinner entrees in our group were all excellent and carried from the duck breast... More
