Small restaurant but superb food

I saw a review that said hidden gem, could not agree more. If you are a fan of turkey/ham sandwiches (open faced), this is your spot. Extremely affordable - quick service. I would get there a little before noon due to the size of the restaurant.

Our hotel concierge, as well as one of our tour guides, highly recommended this place. It's not beautiful on the outside, but our lunch there may have been the best meal we had in Charleston. And it's very inexpensive. They are famous for their lunch specials, and they are a real treat. The name used by the locals for this... More

We wanted a quick early evening bite so walked a block from our B & B The Rutledge Inn to this tiny French cafe. Ended up staying for a bottle of wine, delightful cheese selection, and excellent escargot. They had a young crowd with good service. Stop by to see their 1000 cranes overhead.

This is a favorite of mine when I am in Charleston. It is a small place with an interesting menu, lots of French items and serves wine and beer. Not sure about other alcohol. One sits at a long counter, often next to other diners and chooses from a menu that has lots of daily specials. On my last visit... More

This restaurant seems unassuming but the food is always good and the atmosphere makes it a nice experience for visitors to Charleston, SC. They're open from 8am till 10pm most days (they close early on Mondays). Locals call this place "Fast and French" and indeed, their website is fastandfrenchcharleston.com.

We had a great time in this cafe on a late afternoon. We stopped in for coffee and treats and ended up having dinner. The staff was delightful; the food was delicious; the menu was intriguing and even our 10 month old was entertained.

First time for lunch here. Great soup and croq de something. Easy to use place, with an opportunity to meet someone else at the Community table atmosphere. Read other write up by me for dinner comments.

We ate lunch here while doing Spoleto. Great find. Looks like a hole in the wall but super simple French food. Not large portions ( which we liked) and very reasonable prices. If I lived here I would eat here all the time.

Would have never found it on my own--a seasoned Spoleto traveler led the way. Actually went twice during our visit by including one of their afternoon snacks before a performance.

Gaulart & Maliclet provided a delightful surprise on our walk around Charleston. We (three couples) wanted a unique respite from the pavement - coffee and a snack, perhaps. I looked across the street and noticed a little French cafe. Now that's different from the usual Southern offerings in Charleston. We checked their menu and everyone found something they liked (amazing).... More
