It's worth going a bit off the beaten path to find this place!

A friend brought me here as it's her favorite Charleston restaurant. There is communal, countertop seating so you are elbow to elbow but it's a friendly feeling. Always a good sign when you show up, there's a line-up and locals are present. Be ready to be seated next to complete strangers (at the same table) but who cares because the food is good and fresh. You may end up making a friend! The service is attentive, probably better than most French restaurants. We had the daily special,... More

Stumbled across this when the cafe we headed for was closed due to a power cut! What a lucky find this turned out to be. Great food, very reasonably priced in a lovely old building. You know you've found a good spot when the locals eat there too and this cafe had tourists and several locals who looked like they... More

We always enjoy ourselves here. Cozy atmosphere, great coffee and wine, amazing meat/cheese plates and fondues. Perfect!

Great food, great location, and great service. We each had the tuna salad, and we both agreed it was delicious. So good with the baguette bread

try the reasonable lunch specials which include a glass of wine. You eat at the long curvy bar where the greeter directs you and can easily talk with fellow diners or not. Menu has many of the typical French lighter fare along with fresh American or modern entrees. We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are never... More

Wow what a gem! Loved the French European feel. Loved the wine with my salad. You must eat here. Love sitting with people I don't know and get to know them. French people know no stranger!

I have eaten at this restaurant many times. It is a favorite in Charleston. No frills, but great food. Try the sandwich Provencal with goat cheese, basil and black olive paste on a baguette with a glass of wine. Absolutely fabulous. Staff is always nice, but space is limited and crowded. But that doesn't slow them down one bit. It's... More

G&M is the first place I go to when I am in town. This charming and unassuming hole-in-the-wall is easy to miss but worth the hunt. They serve french cafe-style cuisine that makes me feel like I am back in Paris. From their Croque Madam to their Boulibase, I have never had something I didn't enjoy. Tip: G&M have long... More

I tried this cafe twice on my five day stay in Charleston. Loved it so much that I wish I did it earlier in my stay. Great croissant and breakfast plate of Baguette, cheese, fruit bowl, and ham. French press coffee is excellent and the cafe offers free refills with a meal. Price was reasonable. The place is small with... More
