A tiny place with good food and great ambiance. Fun stop eating at the counter. Very tasty food, nicely priced. Clearly popular with the local population for good reason.

We walked in and immediately liked the counter setup and lively atmosphere we found. The food and service were excellent and we enjoyed talking to others who shared the counter with us. We will find time to visit Gaulart & Maliclet French Cafe on our next visit to Charleston.

I almost hate to review this restaurant because I always want to be able to get in. This is our go to place for breakfast and just a block or two off of Meeting Street, it is very convenient. The french press coffee is perfect, the breakfast selection is pretty slim, mostly croissants with ham or cheese and some fruit.... More

Great service for starters. Nice selection of soups, sandwiches and coffee. Best baguette in town. As expected French onion soup you should not pass up

Incredibly diverse cafe menu looks like it came from a Parisian street bistro. Different specials daily, lots of melted cheeses, breads and soups. A totally different experience. It's been there 35 years, so they're doing something right.

This is a great place to get a coffee or hot chocolate (with ice cream!) and a quick snack. The pastries and cheeses are great. The staff seemed kind of unprofessional (laissze faire?) but otherwise a great place downtown to get a cup and quick snack while touring.

Very casual. Mustard dressing for salad is sooo good! Dinner was pretty much inhaled by my husband and me. We had a lemon dill chicken dish that was their daily special. Also, chocolate croissant was delicious!! Oh, and the French press coffee was pretty tasty, though, my husband didn't think it was strong enough.

30 years? Really? The place seems so fresh and vibrant that its hard to believe its been around that long. The highlights: Best soups around. Period. 3 hot, 2 cold, made fresh daily. Great beverage selection (wine, beer, Dr Brown's sodas,Orangina) Try a croq anything (baguette, monsieur, croissant) - they're all good. Best hot dog anywhere (not joking). Very friendly... More

The food was very good. The service was pretty good, ( The waiter should have know that they did have a Red Bordeaux). The music was a awfully "Peppy" latin mix that you might expect in a Mexican restaurant. But that was the only drawback. We have been here many times through the years and the service has had its... Was a great little place to grab a quick, delicious, simple meal. It's a great place to grab a healthy lunch that will satisfy without making you sluggish. I will go back again & again.
