I wasn't expecting such a great meal and such a beautiful restaurant with a 3-story wine cellar and very cool bar area. Impressed by the table-side cesear salad preparation, which was wonderful. Service was great and having been to many Charleston restaurants, I rate Cyress among the top.

Was dining with a large group on Saturday. Granted it can be challenging to serve a large group, but it took over 20 minutes for someone to take the initial drink orders. Ordered the Filet ($43) medium rare. When the steak came out it was well done to the point of having the consistency of leather. I gave them the... More

We're bar people, so we always aim for the bar for our fun. Cypress is one of our favorites for a few drinks, awesome wines, and and app or two. Our bartender John was sharp, but seemed distracted. I think it was the private party keeping him jumping making drink after drink. We had mixed drinks and scanned the menu... More

We went to Cypress because our first choice, Magnolias, was full with reservations and a long wait list. The hostess recommended their "sister" restaurant, Cypress, just a few doors down. First red flag, very few people in the restaurant. Next, it was unclear who was our server. Was he inexperienced and/or were the other servers giving him a hard time... More

Some places hit you right from the start. Perhaps this one needs more examinations. Some of the entrees were exceptional others average. How does the kitchen offer the such variety? Begin with the wine list -- limited. Ahi tuna, Terrific! Staff in general -- acceptable. Value -- just mediocre. Overall Over rated.

Cypress was wonderful. There are many dining options in Charleston but you won't be disappointed with Cypress. They have a great menu selection and the food was wonderful. Most of us had steak and everyone loved their meal. They also had a great wine selection.

Set in a great part of town, Cypress offers a very chic decor with open kitchen within the shell of a great old building. The wine list is extensive - if a little expensive - with some great global options. Unfortunately the food was somewhat mixed. The crab cake starter was very tasty and rich, only to see main come... Beautiful inside and great for a romantic night out! The food is amazing!! We had the prime rib with sides and it was perfect! Melt in your mouth! If you want a nice evening out, add this place for dinner to your list.

The food was enjoyable, the atmosphere conducive to a quiet dinner for two (on honeymoon), and the location is hard to beat if you are looking to walk there. I would recommend looking for restaurants off the main drags such as Broad St, Church St, Bay St, Queen St, etc.

We returned to Cypress with friends to celebrate my 30th birthday dinner and overall had a lovely experience. Oh the high sides, our food was delicious and I completed stuff myself on friend mac n cheese, smoked salmon wellington, and the tuna tartar appetizer. No one had a single complaint about their meal in our group of 7 and raved... More
