This is a great-looking contemporary dining room with a handsome crowd. The food is fantastic, combining ingredients that make you think "Hmmm?" when you read about them on the menu, and "Of course!" when you actually eat them. The oyster and tuna tartare appetizer was one example, and a strawberry "napoleon" made with layers of almond macaroons instead of pastry... More

Cypress was a nice meal out with friends for a celebration. The food was very good, but not exceptional. Some at our table ordered the Caesar salad - which if you have seen other reviews you know they make at table side; the slight hitch in this was that the oil splashed all over one of the guests at the... One of my favorite cities to dine in and this could be one of my favorite places to dine. We were a table of 6 and we were seated almost as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was full and yet the noise level was not so high that we could not hear each other speak. I loved the two... More

We arrived at 7:00 for our reservation and were quickly shown to our table. (I always wonder why there are four place settings at the table when the reservation is for two...). Our wait person arrived promptly and took our drink orders. We began with the Caesar Salad, which was prepared at they table by our server. She did a... More

Try the pork. it is great, and unique! They buy their pork from a local farm, and prepare it themselves. Steak is great too. Not very keen on the crab cakes, however.

This is a great spot to eat. It has a real buzz but not loud enough to drown out a conversation. Service is professional but not aloof or hipster. We had the special salad, pretty good, and the charcuterie plate to start. The charcuterie was outstanding. For entrées we both had pink snapper. Perfectly cooked fresh fish. We shared a... More

We were recommended to eat at the Cypress and when we entered we could tell it was a swanky high-end restaurant. Very nice atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. The manager came over to speak with us so you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. In fact the chef was featured on Unique Eats on the Food Network.... More

Took my Mom here last week while she was in town- one of the raved about restaurants in town I hadn't yet tried. It was a great choice!! We tried a little of everything starting with the Long Island Oysters on the Half Shell (a little bland and watery for the price), Asparagus and Smoked Salmon soup (amazing combination), Lobster... Went there last night for dinner. Three of us had the bacon jam, pimento cheese and liver pate dips with breads, FANTASTIC. The carpaccio, fresh and delicious, the pizza perfect. We stopped for just appetizers before a tour but will definitely be back for dinner. Everything was delicious and service perfect. A gem in Charleston.

The contemporary styling of the interior of Cypress is a visual delight, and a sharp contrast to the historic surroundings on the outside. From the unique multi-colored lighting to the wall of wine, it is very striking. We also enjoyed our upscale Southern cooked meals. From scallops with pork belly, to chicken on a vegetable melange of golden beets, our... More
