Marvelous table appetizer of fried okra with a spicy sauce - light, not greasy, and very tasty. Dinner were delicious. Service was cordial but not effusive. A hidden gem very near market area. more

My husband and I wrote a reveiw last year when visiting Charleston, the food is still OK, but the bottom line when we got there we asked for the server we had last time, we were told "we let him go" by the girl at door, how unprofessional! First of all our server who also bartended was what made our... more

I took my wife here for our anniversary this past weekend. The restaurant was located just across from the hotel we were staying at, and was right next to the marketplace. We tried the shrimp and grits as a starter. It was pretty good, as the grits were of a smooth consistency and the shrimp seemed to be local. I... more

I was recently visiting the city w/ my mother for a mother/daughter trip & we chose Anson's for our "fancy dinner out". Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Everything is ala carte' & for the price they charge for entrees, the least they could do is throw some complimentary salad greens on a plate. Our appetizer was skimpy.......(1) large... more

My daughter and I visited Charleston and Anson was very close to our hotel. We wanted to do a walking dinner and went there first. The waite staff were all men, which I thought was interesting. We sat at the bar and ordered appetizers. The bartender took our order and began to tell us about all the great things Charleston... more

The daughter of a friend worked at the Anson Restaurant a few years ago, and so when she heard that we were going to Charleston, she recommended it to us. It was a wonderful experience for us. The fried flounder not only looked good, but was delicious. The service was very on point. We didn't find it stuffy or unfriendly,... more

We went this restaurant totally unprepared as it was a spur of the moment. Also we underdress and with two babies, they found us a quite booth. Our son started to cry so the waiter gave us some bread right away to give him to eat and they got him some water in a soup cup with a straw so... more

Anson came highly recommended by our hotel concierge, but problems surfaced from the moment we arrived for our reservation. Despite an almost empty main dining room, the hostess insisted on seating us in an upstairs (second class) room. Our waiter, while pleasant, was unprepared to answer simple menu questions. Our cocktails arrived as ordered, but we all felt they were... more

First time at the restraunt so went with open mind. Chose the restraunt due to wife wanting lamb and it was the closest to the Gilliard. Got there prior to the evening rush (615). Everything about the experience was excellent, and even held a cab for us to go back to the Gilliard. If I had to say something bad... more
