Breakfast is terrific, lunch better and dinner even better. Everyday there is a special that is usually very special and innovative. The fare is southern. Fried chicken, core, biscuits and all the other things you may desire like omelets, pancakes, sandwiches. Dinners are varied and really good. Leave room for dessert, especially the buttermilk pie and coconut cream pie.

Hominey Grill is a breakfast treat. There's nothing ordinary about the food or the ambiance. They even sell copies of their cookbook. Award winning chef in a classic old Charleston house on the east side. Parking available!!

For some reason over the years the Hominy Grill has attained almost a cult status for serving "New South" cuisine. As a long term resident of the area, and for a while, a frequent customer, I can tell you this place is really overrated. The good points: It is located in the hospital district away from the main restaurant area... More

We live on the same street as the Hominy Grill, and have been going there regularly since they opened. The food is consistently good...everyone in my family has their own favorite dish that they order time and again: shrimp and grits, grilled portabello and goat cheese sandwich (ask for it on a baguette, not sliced bread), the big nasty, fried... Hominy Grill deservedly attracts a large local audience. Unpretentious good Southern cuisine. One must be patient at times.

I'm lucky, Hominy is in my neighborhood. If it's mid-day Saturday or Sunday, get ready for a wait; and those waiting will be locals. Arguably the anesthesia shrimp and grits in charleston. Don't forget the sides!

It lives up to the hype and is always tasty, a bit noisy in some sections and service mostly on spot.

You've seen the reviews. I can't add too much else. This place is awesome. I'll just say, get the beer mimosa and the Big Nasty Biscuit. It was a great cure for my hangover from the night before. The wait can be intimidating but it's worth it.

Simply beautiful place with fresh, natural foods. So tasty. Corner of Ashley St and Cannon, right at the free trolley stop. Wonderful soups, service and all was enjoyable.

If eating earlier, I usually go for the huevos rancheros which are incredible! However, this visit we ate a little later in the day and highlights included the squash casserole and the Lima beans. You just will not eat Lima beans done like that anywhere else. Flavors and textures are put together masterfully. Prices are quite reasonable. When I go... More
