Breakfast is the best here

Came highly recommended and was well worth the visit. Slightly out of the way from downtown, but go! Everything was great....juice, coffee, egg dishes, grits, and they offer some sweets for dessert too. We read online that there was no parking, but there is an adjacent parking area so had no... read more

We’ve been to this restaurant for each of our last two visits to Charleston, 2014 and 2015. It is a top-notch breakfast spot. I’ve had the Charleston Nasty biscuit - fried chicken and cheese on a biscuit topped with sausage gravy - and the shrimp and grits. It is real-deal Southern cuisine in a sunny, open restaurant full of locals.... More

We came here on the recommendation of a relative, just as we had Jestine's Kitchen (reviewed separately.) The setting is warm and inviting (a fresh flower on each table, etc.) and the service efficient and pleasant. The main courses were very good -- I had the "messy "biscuit, and my wife had the ribs -- but the highlights were actually... More

This place is great! Get the Nasty Bisquit- it is a one of a kind, delicious masterpiece! Get the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting if it's being served that day because it is the best peanut butter icing in the world!! We went early in the evening on a Monday so there was no waiting but this place is... More

We had a lovely casual dinner here. We started with the pimento cheese plate, delish. The pickled okra on it was also awesome. My husband had the smoked pork chop special entree and it was amazing! I had the vegetable grill and it was also the tasty. I don't love cornbread so I asked for a biscuit instead. It was... More

Really unassuming but cosy venue tucked well away from trendy King St. Warm welcome ftom attentive and courteous staff. Eclectic menu with lots of local southern dishes to try. Super fresh ingredients in imaginative combinations. Efficient service with loads of staff on a very bysy night. Could not fault a single thing, but wish I hadn't agreed to share my... More

We stumbled upon Hominy Grill on our first evening in Charleston, and what a find. The ambience is relaxed and comfortable. The food is outstanding. It is a very Southern experience and we loved every minute of it. The servers were very friendly and although I didn't have grits that night, the server brought me some to taste and they... More

My family loved the menu selection. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the she-crap soup was outstanding. My pecan pie was wonderful. I recommend that you make reservations in advance. Because we did not have reservations, we opted to sit outside in the patio instead of waiting an hour to be seated indoors. The tables and seats outside were wet... More

We had an early dinner here one afternoon on our recent visit to Charleston. At around 4pm the place was nearly empty and parking available in the adjacent lot, so this is the time to go, between usual meal times. We both had the shrimp and grits and they were scrumptious! We really didn't know that grits could taste this... More
