We were visiting with cousins in Charleston, and they took us to the Hominy Grill for lunch. We loved the restaurant, and getting to try southern food!! The turnip and bacon soup was very good, and the apple sauce was absolutely delicious!!

This was our second visit to Hominy and once again we were thrilled. Not only with the fantastic flavor of the food, but the wonderful service by the staff. We started with the She-Crab soup, which came with an explanation of why it's called "She-Crab", wonderful! Then we sampled the fried green tomatoes, probably the best I've ever had. More... More

This might sound unlikely but,,,,any item on the menu is a winner. Clean premises, plenty of seating inside and outside, attentive service staff, nice pricing. Had lunch here this week; immediate seating; ordered the BIG NASTY BISCUIT, super comforting dish. Pushed on for a shared dessert with the Hummingbird cake. Delicious!

Visited here on 01/14/15 for dinner. So on our way back to NJ from FLA... we stopped in Charleston again. We were looking for a good place to eat and our hotel concierge recommended Hominy Grill. Small... homey, very friendly and the food... just excellent! We started off with 3 appetizers... fried green tomatoes (YUM!) Okra and shrimp biegnets (which... More

While known as a brunch spot, we went to Hominy Grill for our first dinner in Charleston and it was excellent. We had the picnic platter, the catfish, and nasty biscuit and the caramel layer cake for dessert. Each item was very good. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The crowd was mixed. The staff was attentive. We had an... More

Great fried chicken and fried green tomatoes . It was also good value for money and the ambience is very relaxed - so perfect for families.

On our second trip the Charleston we finally made it to Hominy and we were not disappointed! Our server (the young farmer) was amazing friendly beyond belief. The shrimp & grits as well as the bone in fired chicken lived up the hype! Fat tasty shrimp plentiful with bacon & mushrooms on creamy grits, and the chicken... well my husband... More

Recently had lunch here with a group of associates and I was expecting much more than what I got. Nice touch in offering boiled peanuts -- but I'm not a fan of boiled peanuts so it was lost on me. We ordered fried green tomatoes and okra and crag beignets for appetizers and they were a big flop. The tomatoes... More

We arrived quite late after a concert, but were very welcomed. The restaurant is nice and central and the food, service and ambience was excellent. We all enjoyed our food and it was nice not to be rushed as it was late. Would defiantly go back when next in Charleston and without a doubt recommend it to everyone.
