Great cheese grits

We went here on a Saturday around 11 am. When we drove by, the line looked long, but it turned out it was only a 30 minute wait. We go to Hominy more than any other restaurant in Charleston -- usually for breakfast! It is the cutest atmosphere, and AMAZING food. Always unique specials and desserts. The wait is usually at least 30 minutes... but it is definitely worth it! Never had anything here I wasn't absolutely crazy about!

I have to say that this was our favorite meal in all of Charleston. We got lucky and walked in without a reservation. We were seated in a booth. The place is busy and popular so reservations are recommended. Here is what we had at our table: she crab soup. May I just stop there? The she crab soup was... More

Delish good southern cooking, in a relaxing environment, so many options, it was hard to choose but worth the wait. I was pleasantly full but not uncomfortably so.

Quick service with good southern staples like grits, collards and fried chicken. The fried grits were good, as well as the veggie special tomato pudding. Portions were good for the price. Cornbread was very good- moist and buttery. Like the boiled peanuts to kick off the meal. Only downside is the parking is quite a challenge, but hey it is... More

During a recent work trip, I decided to seek out some of the highest-praised shrimp & grits in Charleston, South Carolina. Over my 9-day rampage across Charleston, I experienced 11 of the best shrimp & grits restaurants in the area. Although receiving notoriety for its James Beard award winning chef and being featured on cable network shows for its “Charleston... More

My hairdresser raved over this restaurant when he had traveled to Charleston and insisted we go. The decor is fantastic, the food is a mixed-bag. The veggies were overcooked, but the she crab soup and the corn bread was amazing. The cake was dry as if it had set out a while. The curry chicken salad was unremarkable. The flavor... More

We have been there before and this four day visit to Charleston was a chance to return. The service is great and the menu is very clear on what dishes are vegetarian. I had mashed sweet potatoes, cheese grits, homemade applesauce, lima beans, and cornbread just like mama used to make. The bloody mary was also tasty. We ate at... More

Excellent choice for a home made breakfast. Had their basic country style breakfast with grits. I love grits. Everything was delicious, really good coffee and fast service.
